New xbox1 game DVR

I'll watch RoosterTeeth do some of their Minecraft lets plays, which are ~50 minutes in length. Having said that, I'm not going to watch Sons2 of Sparda do anything longer than 2 minutes.

Buy a capture card.

 

It would be nice if the gameplay data could be streamed and saved online or even over to your computer's hard drive so that you could immediately edit it and upload it to youtube or wherever.

 

You mean like an extended cloud storage that it could be dumped into? That'd definitely work!

 

Yeah, it would make a lot more sense than saving it locally. Shrug.

 

I would take that up if they offered it. I bet that comes at some point down the lines ^

 

I don't understand why they can't just let us save videos locally if we choose to. I have a 3tb external hooked up to my Xbox now with plenty of space available to save videos. It would also allow for faster access as some of us don't have the best internet.
I've also noticed that some of my vids, especially ones from the first days of Xbox one have become corrupted and won't play anymore. To me personally, we should be able to choose how long we'd like to record for and if they are worried about storage, allow
us to save it locally. Especially now we can have external hdd hooked up.

 

I do watch quite a bit of game videos, but almost never for 50 minutes straight, such as with walkthroughs, etc. so even I think that's a bit of a stretch.

As for my own personal video uploading experience, it would be nice to be able to record for more than 5 minutes, but as is, my connection takes forever to upload any clips over 30 seconds (~10+ minutes for the 30 seconds).

 

I wouldn't mind seeing an option of 5,10,15 or 20 minute recording time. I think anything longer than that, is too much. Those options should give everyone the ability to record a full game match if they wanted to.

 

I only think it should be longer so that you can record say a whole game of battlefield if you want. It doesn't mean you have to upload the whole thing but you could rip the highlights out for use. Sometimes when playing I forget to record things or miss
things in the heat of battle.

 

5 mins seems a bit short, but 10 would be nice. I don't usually watch a gameplay video that is longer than that unless I'm trying to decide if I want to buy the game or not.

 

What they could do is allow you to change the size of the cache, or even move it to your external hard drive, assuming limited cache size is what's preventing longer recordings. You can already edit videos on the console and upload them direct to OneDrive
or YouTube, so that would be the simplest solution.

If you buy one of the TV tuners for the Xbox One, you can optionally reserve something like 3GB of space on your hard drive to use as a recording buffer so you can pause live TV for about half an hour. That's the kind of thing they could do.
