New xbox1 game DVR

We all xbox1 gamers agree that 5 min is too short and we can't record our gameplays or hyper moments. So I'd like to have about 50 min time of recording so we could do full gameplay videos.

Setup = STB HDMI in to xbox1 then Xbox1 HDMI out to tv

STB= directv/non dvr receiver- Model: H24-100

Audio= Bose solo sound bar

set up only works until i power down all devices then the next day nothing works - cant view tv

I have the genie dvr piped through my XBOX1 and have no issues. I would just like to report that this configuration can work.

 

5 minutes is long enough for me. Hell, 30 second clips are all I need.

 

The xbox game dvr, isn't for building proper videos, its to quick share things simply, if your wanting more buy a PVR.

Also think about your audience, I agree 30 seconds is long enough.

 

Yea that person obviously has no video posting experience or he would know its not smart to make videos over 3-5 minutes.

50 minutes hahaha nobody's going to watch that and if they do get suckered too navigating to it there just going rail you for how dumb long it is!

I think he wanted a 50 minute video, so he could not miss anything and edit it later but I could be wrong.

 

30 seconds is long enough now they have a button prompt for 'record that'. Before that was added, it was a case of getting the Kinect to listen to me when I said it lol. On rare occasion it would ignore me altogether.

 

I agree it is long enough for sharing clips as intended, it would be nice to extend it as ghosts said for sharing a raid boss etc, but if your planning that I think broadcast would be better.

Go get a real capture device and record for as long as you'd like

 

Another alternative is to use the built-in Twitch app to stream as long as you want - and you'll end up with a full stream archived on Twitch by default. That would save a tonne of local harddrive space, I imagine. Just keep & download what you need, for
later editing purposes.

 

the twitch quality is OK... but nothing beats a direct capture....

Despite the fact that I don't care at all about the Xbox One's game DVR (nor do I use it), I did enjoy using Halo Reach's gameplay recording feature

With that being said and based on my experience with the system used by Halo Reach, I do agree that 5 minutes is definitely too short.

Plenty of people watch long game clips. Look at how popular some YouTube channels are that do long playthroughs of games. Of course it would be better if it could record longer clips, because that wouldn't stop the "30 seconds is all you need!" crowd from
recording their short clips and it would also satisfy those who want to make longer recordings.
