New Xbox Wireless Headset shuts down the xbox

Has happened to me twice now. When you first turn on the headset and it connects to the console (in my case the Xbox Series X) it will just shut down the xbox. After that shutdown when you turn it back on again you have to pair the headset to the console again and it will work fine. It seems the issue is specifically triggered by the headset already being connected to the console before they are both turned off meaning that the next day when you turn on xbox and headset they will pair automatically and then bam the screen goes back and console has to be turned back on.

This is a nasty surprise when you're playing an online game, someone invites you to a party so you accept it, turn on headset and then boom game gone.

Any idea how long this will take to fix?

It probably would happen if you replicate the same scenario.

Connect his headset to your Xbox and do the same stuff.

Try the turning the console on and headset at the same time, though it seems like it happens a lot more with the series s/x over the last gen.

The issues seem to be varied but with the same result, console restart.

Once I simply turned on the headset and it shut the console off. The other 2 times it was on and I accepted the invite and it shut off my console.

I cannot find a pattern here. Was thinking it had something to do with it automatically connecting to my phone, so I turned off the bluetooth on my phone and it did it still. I factory reset the headset but have not tried it since. I will see if it does it today.

I would switch to my trusty wired headset, but I use this for gaming with my son, mostly at night when my wife and baby girl are sleeping.

Just saw your post on the confirmed bug. This makes me feel better knowing they know.

Side note, this doesn't happen to my son. He has the same headset, yet he is on an original xbox one and I am on a one X.

Not op but I think that’s what happens to most people. For me it only happens when I use the headset to turn on the Series X

Exact same thing has happened with my wireless headset and Series X. Did you end up fixing it somehow?

Happens to me every time I turn the headset on Xbox shuts down... seriously ...

Every time...

Only workaround so far has been to connect to console with an usb c before turning it on...
