New Xbox Wireless Headset issues with Mic

Hi,

I got the new Xbox Wireless Headset and I love the quality of the sound, however I am having major issues with the mic on my PC. Anytime the mic is active, the sound cuts out completely and if I have it plugged in, the sound just gets softer and doesn't go away completely. Sometimes the audio output shows up as "Xbox Controller" in my sound control panel rather than "Xbox Wireless Headset Stereo".

I should clarify that when I mean the mic is active I mean when any program is actively using the mic. Examples being Discord voice call (or mic test), sound control panel's "Recording" tab, etc.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this issue? I have tried hard reset, unpairing, turning off and on, etc.

Thanks so much! As for the mic issue, one was my razer wireless headset which works great except for the mic, and because of that I bought brand new xbox wired headset and still no mic. Weird cause it says mic is on, but I can't hear my voice, no one else
can, and my recordings don't have my voice either. Was going to buy a third headset but I wonder if it's the xbox itself. thanks anyhow

Why can't they make a new boom mc with the new Xbox wireless protocol? The mic plugs into the left side of the headset.

Did you purchase the headset brand new or pre-owned?

My friend had this issue a few days ago when connecting a wireless headset, the wireless headset would automatically get set to the second quadrant, and it would show a headset plugged in even when it is not.

I found this post elsewhere, it may be of some help to you, but if the headset was bought brand new this might not apply.

"The inside of the mic input on all 360 controllers can get warped from using a wired headset. When it warps, it causes the metal to create a bridge when the mic is removed. The controller thinks the mic is still plugged in when it's removed, because of
this bridge. A wired mic will take priority over a wireless mic. When you go to connect your wireless mic to a controller that is bridged, it will just move over to the next available quadrant."
