New Xbox turns on and then freezes.

Big mistake getting this for my kid for Christmas.

Has worked fine 6 times since Dec 25th. Today...sucks. Turns on, see the xbox 360 screen, goes gray with spinning circle and freezes. Turn everything off, wait and try again and again and again.

Found an elusive 800 number, waited for a long time, guy said unplug everything and wait and start again. Guy said lots of notices for problems and may take 24 hours. I asked 24 hrs and then what...he couldn't say.

Worked once and now doing same freezing.

Do I really have to unplug everything and wait for 5 minutes everytime to use the stupid thing?

Product and service seem sketchy, to be polite about it.

Anything resembling help is appreciated.

Xbox Freezes and then turns off

While playing bf1 and most other games on my Xbox online I’ll get about 5 minutes in (depends on the game and how many times I’ve played it that day) or less the game will freeze on whatever screen I’m on and won’t move at all. During this about 30 second
period of being frozen I can’t do anything if I press the home button it plays the little swoosh sound but won’t ever show anything popping up on the screen. After roughly 20 to 30 seconds of being frozen the Xbox promptly turns off on its own, it plays the
little powering off sound and the screen goes black. The weirdest part is that even though the Xbox is turned off the white light on the controller is still lighting up. I can’t turn the console on by using the controller I’ve got to turn it on manually. I’ve
contacted Xbox a few times and managed to fix it twice only for it to go straight back to the freezing the next day. I can’t go 5 minutes into a game without it freezing and the Xbox turning off and it’s really annoying. If anyone has any ideas about what
is going on the Xbox or any solutions to it I would be very grateful.

I started having the same issue, It began after the Destiny 2 update. I did a full reset (kept the games) and it worked for a day or two. I installed COD WWII last night, and couldn't even get through the intro, black screen, then power down, then after
a while it powers up again. I am assuming a powers supply issue, but I have had no issues up to now with it.

 

Try disconnecting your device from the internet. If it still locks up, remove all accessories and storage devices. If you bought this brand new from a retailer, I'd just go back and exchange it. Sometimes items get damaged during shipping, which can cause
issues like this. It's most likely the HDD, though again, if that's defective then you'll want to just exchange everything outright to avoid any issues.
