I have been playing on Xbox Live for around 5-6 years now and I think that the rules are still ridiculous. Nearly all of the games I have are 18+ and the rules limit us and treat the community like children. I have been banned on several occasions for simply
arguing with complete and utter idiots and getting banned and suspended from communicating for a period of time from Xbox live all because I swear..... I understand most of Xbox live is full of minors (They use more curse words then half of the adults I talk
to in game) and bans still happen even though I play 18+ Games only. Other games have had this issue such as RuneScape which made such things like profanity filters to help eliminate banning of people who like to have the choice to be with people who swear.
Why cant Xbox change their servers and make it 18+ servers so it gives people the choice to vent out their frustration with games without worrying about getting banned the next day or simply stop banning people who swear on 18+ games. I see where most of the
bans come from as some people find it threatening and those bans are understandable.

I understand that it can get annoying when all you can hear is someone is just swearing a ridiculous amount for no apparent reason. But I only stay in partychat now which has limited my communication between my team on some games because I cant stand feeling
paranoid about using bad language and getting banned again.

My Gamertag is TOFFEE POPCORN, Feel free to send me a friends request.

This is for xbox live general discussions.

    :)

Game needed to show the full power of this console

Unfortunately this is the General Update Preview Discussion not game request forum or game general discussion. Game requests will do you no good here as this forum is for the discussion of the Xbox Firmware updates.

It would be better to have your post in either,
    Xbox General Discussion,
    Xbox One General Discussion,
    General Game Discussion or
    Community Chatter.

    Hello GENERAL ZOD XX,

This forum is meant for people to post for support with connecting to Xbox LIVE. I'm going to move this thread to the appropriate forum, Xbox General Discussion.

You don`t need to spam the same topic on each forum.

I doubt anyone here will agree that you should be allowed to swear and harass people online if you are over 18.

I can`t see many friend requests coming your way either.

So, you're saying that the ToU/CoC needs to be changed because you lack self control?

And, if you're claiming these people are "idiots", arguing with them only brings you to their level.

  6. I think the rules are fair.

If you see someone saying somethig you think is offensive, just report them and block them. Then you won't be getting banned.

Also, swearing is a last resort. You would, in my understanding, swear if you are annoyed with something or at someone. Imoi you can't swear for pleasure.

That's my view, and only my view

@ TOFFEE POPCORN: There's nothing wrong with the ToA and CoC as it is now. Microsoft's Xbox Live is a publisher's service for game companies, so they really can't be expected to provide parental guidance for parents that don't give two *** enough to pay
attention to the ESRB rating system, which is funny since the parents that claim violent video games ruin their children's morality are the same parents that rush out to buy their kids video games with a Mature rating (ESRB is sort'a there for a reason).

As for being banned for cussing, the only way that is usually done as far as I know of is if you have caused enough of a public disturbance. I hang out with friends in parties and we cuss enough to put a sailor to shame, yet none of us get banned for it
(it's all in fun, helps to vent or carry on like maniacs).

As for minors swearing during (attempts) at trash talking, I say if they're old enough to dish it then they're old enough to take it. If parents don't like it then they should monitor their kids better and what their kids play. Microsoft nor people 18+ are
responsible for what squeakers say nor are squeakers exempt from the consequences of starting something they know they shouldn't be doing.

Basically, you're either crossing lines you shouldn't be crossing enough times to get you into trouble, or you're getting boot tooled by script kiddies because you went and said something to the wrong person. I suggest at most calling someone out for whatever
BS they performed and leave it at that, no sense in dragging something out to the point you get console banned over it. Peace Out.

@ TOFFEE POPCORN: Just on a quick additional side note, I meant crossing a line as a personal standard that one should always set in terms of trash talking ( ex. Personally I don't care if it's a squeaker or not, I won't hash out on someone with a disability,
illness, etc). There are times when I have done what I mentioned and been told off and informed by a relative of the "offender's" condition, which was followed by a quick explanation from myself, a retraction and an apology for the offending response. (no
matter how mild the response might have been).

In most games that are rated 18+ you'll also find a disclaimer that the online side is unrated, so kids are doing nothing wrong by playing online. Technically the only issue would come from them playing the single player.

Given that online is unrated, it's not had to see why Microsoft aim to create a pleasant environment free from those who can't articulate themselves without using foul language every other word.
