    I've just bought my fist Xbox (for my son) installing now but it is taking hours to do updates and turns itself off and having to start all over. Does this sound normal?

    Sorry to hear you're having issues with your downloads.

    I would definitely recommend checking out our
    Low Streaming Quality     troubleshooter. It has a couple of different suggestions based on what you're seeing.

    Please let us know how that works for you and we'll go from there.

    Not sure if this is just my internet connection or to much wifi being used in my house but i am finding game updates are taking ages to download to the point some of them i have to leave my xbox on over night just to play it again

    Depending on how old the Xbox is (by that I mean if it's old stock) it may have to do more than one update, if that is the case, then chances are it's that's why it's taking some time to update.

    I know a few people that have had issues with games taking ages to install. Have you tried installing when not connected to Xbox LIVE, once installed, connect and download any updates? This seems to speed things up for others.

    Hopefully at E3 there will be news of external HDD support.
