New XBox System update issues

Have a new Xbox one. On starting come to a screen which says "Its time to update" I am told that I need to download an update that has a size of 1117 MB. I start the update. I realise that at the speed the update is going it is going to take at least 24
hours for the update to complete. So I leave it to itself.A few hours later when I come back the Xbox has shut down or is sleeping and when I turn it back on it goes back to the screen at the beginning i.e. now I have to start downloading again from zero!!
I have been through this cycle four times already hoping that it would turn out diffferent but no luck with that. Do I have to stay up with it till it completes the update or is there a better solution.

The article also when on to note that those with the "Instant On" feature enabled will be first to get the update since it will roll out in waves. Everyone else will received it by Thursday 12/12/13. I for one am very happy to see Microsoft quickly begin to fix the many small issues or bug currently found on the Xbox One. We can only hope they continue to be persistent and hasten.

Sorry you're having issues with your Xbox. The updates can take a bit to complete, especially if you have a slower internet speed. Please see

this link on the steps to do an offline system update. It's highly recommended that you let the update download and update itself on the console. If you cannot do that, then follow the link above to do the offline system update.

 

Hi Hydro, Thanks for the advice. I have had a look there already before I posted. That time I did not notice the

"Note If you're setting up your system for the first time, or if you're in the middle of a system update and need to find your OS version, pull both triggers and press both bumpers on your controller. The OS version is listed as Build on the second line."

So struggled for some time pressing all the buttons on the controller trying to get to whatever the "Home" screen is, to try and find the OS version. Hopefully now I should be able to get the update done offline.
