new XBOX one X won't connect to XBOX live

Hi there,

so this is what we are looking at

- New XBOX one X

- LAN connection to AVM FritzBox 7590, latest SW, UPnP active, Teredo off

Initial installation started with a SW update of the XBOX. After the reboot, the system shows the starting screen, but when I want to connect with my profile, the XBOX claims its not connected.

Network connection settings show the fixed IP address given to the XBOX, a working IP4 with NAT open.

Testing the network opens the IE for bing, but after this is closed the screen stays black/ grey. No functionality whatsoever, even when waiting for 30mins.

Pressing the XBOX button on the controller brings me back to the starting screen and I can restart the whole procedure.

Observations so far:

- WLAN connection as an alternative won't work either, after giving the PW for the WLAN network the system starts allover again, though I see the "success" message. Totally strange.

- When looking at the download section I see a couple of pending updates (like MS store and such).

- Network rate is highly volatile, something between 0Kbit/s and 700+Kbit/s on a 100Mbit/s line.

Any idea on how to sole this, please?

I was not signing into xbox live before. I was not even connecting. I was just playing the games on the console. the profile I set up on there is missing and won't let me create a new one. I tried to connect and now it won't let me connect to xbox live.
It shows that I am connecting to the internet and then errors at the xbox live point.

Hi oBit48,

you do not want to know how long I spend on the support websites to find the answer. Power circle here, reset there, Toredo filter anywhere. Chip in UPnP to be active. That's it.

The chat robot is stupid.

The telephone support (I found a 0800 number somewhere) lets me listen to this and that, answer questions to the hardware and only THEN telling me I am calling during off business hours. Fail. WOT for 10min the least.

I just hope that if someone is looking for this, he finds the above hint.

1. Switch off UPnP in the router

2. Restart Router and XBOX

3. Switch on UPnP in the router

3. Restart Router and XBOX

I did another test with my cell phone as hotspot before in order to rule out it's the XBOX in first place. So that worked, even though NAT was on "strict" whilst being on hotspot.

Digging further in the AVM community and support got me the above solution. Whether this only worked in connection with the first update coming via hotspot? Who knows? But at the end it finally worked.

So once again: UPnP stands for "unlimited plug'n pray"

I was about to suggest using a hotspot on your phone to do the update (assuming your data plan would cover it). This shouldn't have had to be a solution but hopefully from now on your house internet will update it just fine and there wont be further issues
