    New Xbox one x will not read discs until I restart console


    Alright so I got an Xbox one x new in December and I only have one small issue with it, if I boot up my Xbox one x either in a cold boot or fast boot it will not read any disc that I put inside until I restart the console. The console will not even eject
    the disc, and even when I restart the system the screen goes black and stays there and I have to do a hard reset in order to restart it back up. I dont think that this is a hardware issue because if it was then a simple restart would not even work. There are
    also other people on here with the same issue and i can provide the links to those threads. It seems this issue has persisted since at least december 2018

    I've recently come across this same problem. Brand new games I bought like Sunset Overdrive, Halo, GTA V, and FarCry 4. I've tried to unplug/plug again. It takes multiple tries of ejecting and inserting disc again. This is my 2nd issue I've had and I have
    a day one console. First time I had a black screen issue, had to send it for repair. Ended up getting the same console back. Now I'm going to have to send for repair again. Bleh!

    I'm having a similar issue now. It was reading disks fine yesterday and now it just wants to play regular dvd's, no blu ray or games. I've tried everything suggested and it still doesn't work.

    MW2 will not play

    The Xbox series X will not read the MW2 disc, I have returned it and tried 3 separate copies of the MW2 disc, the console will play other games/discs and read dvds/blue rays as well. But will not read any MW2 disc I insert into the console. The disc will read on my Xbox one. I installed it there and network transferred all the data to the series X and upgraded all the data that was transferred but the console refuses to read the MW2 disc.

    Please verify that you were playing on an Xbox series console, and not a one console. There are Xbox one S and X and Xbox series S and X, must be Series

    If you put a disc in your S console it's a one.

    It will not say owned unless you actually purchase it digitally. It will say "installable" or if it's installed and updated "play"

    If you feel it's not reading your disc, please try a Blu-ray movie in the drive, and also go to power and choose "restart" in the guide.
