new xbox one- updates aren't working

New out of the box today. I followed the troubleshooting guide, unplugged it, etc. I am connected to my wifi network ("it's all good"). it won't update. I created a Microsoft account, have not redeemed my 14-day code yet. I thought the xbox would prompt
me for it when (IF) it updates. what is going on?

Possible Future Update for Fanetec's Hardware?

So let me ask this question. Why aren't you hearing about people complaining about the 360 controller not working with the new Xbox One? It's the same exact thing. It's a new system with new hardware specs in place.

 

I am having the same problem. It stopped at 74% 230 MB remaining. I chatted with the service center, they said plug it in directly to the modem, the machine would need to go to the service center if that didn't work. plugging it in directly and got the
same results. stopped at 74% 230MB remaining.

I am not about to send a brand new machine in to get fixed. I returned it today, 12/28/2014 and got a different machine. however it has the same exact problem, stopped at 74% 230MB remaining.

my internet is working fine, it should not be that. could it be the hacking? maybe the last 230MB is corrupt, or missing on the MS server? A search on the internet shows a lot of the same problem, stopping at various percent's, some at 16% some at 74%.
It should be a known problem. I did all the basic things like powering down, and back up. tried things for the last two days. I, however am not going to do a full diagnostics on a brand new machine just out of the box. I will try some things tomorrow.
If it wasn't a present for my daughter, I would be taking it back for a refund.

 

Update: talked to a tech this morning who said they had the same problem with their machine, the fix is to down load the software to a flash drive and load it manually. here is where to do it.

Thanks, Abuzz, for your help! I went to look up the operating system info, and lo and behold, the update worked this morning! Looks like xbox fixed the issue on their end! Hurrah!
