New Xbox One UI (Oct 2020) not reading external hard drive

Original XBox One, no issues with Toshiba 1TB SSD External HD until three days ago with new UI update. XBox One is no longer reading the Ext HD. Tried all troubleshooting steps outlined on XBox support, no joy. A phone call from a rep had me reset the
console (not restart, but reset), then tried to state the issue was the cord for the Ext HD. Cord was switched out, still not reading the ext HD, then the rep hung up. Any help is appreciated.

    :)

XboxOne stopped detecting the external hard drive

I recently had the same issue. I was using a Seagate 1TB external hard drive. The xbox itself may not be the issue. It could very well be the hard drive itself. I plugged mine into another xbox, it did not read, also plugged into PC, did not read. Possible
the hard drive may have crashed and may just have to buy a new one.

    Installation issue

If you recently updated your console with the February 2020 update, it has bricked external hard drives world wide and Xbox Support refuses to acknowledge that the last update is causing an issue with external hard drives. No games will download, install,
or launch from external drives since the update. They've known about this for close to a month.

    Xbox 360 slim corrupting files?

    Hi,

Simple answer, your hard drive is failing. Fix? Buy a new hard drive or use an external hard drive. The Xbox 360 supports external hard drives up to 2 TB.

Hard drives die and before they do, they generally exhibit, disk read errors, corrupted files none working games. Hard disk drives are mechanical with moving parts, its it not if they fail its a matter of when.

    Hi MEG BEP,

I hope it is not a problem on the external hard drive as I can not buy another.

I will continue to look for some solution. If I can solve this problem, I will post an answer.

    Thanks for helping.
