New Xbox One still having problems with wifi?

I've seen the complaints, I haven't had any issues with my day one console and controllers, dual band router sits 5 feet from my X1. I do recall seeing in one of the dashboard updates recently that there was a fix for controllers disconnecting, not sure
if it is the same issue or not.

And for reasons beyond my understanding, the PS4 is 2.4ghz only, so I certainly wouldn't be calling MS out on being cheap on the WiFi.

 

If you go looking for problems they aren't hard to find on the net. The majority who don't have issues very rarely create posts going "woopetedy doo another problem free day in gaming land".

 

It's official, we're getting a One, and here's why: just brought home Forza 6, on sale at Costco for just $39 (only one store in town had copies left and that was quite the drive there and back). Glad I started this thread, it gave me the confidence I needed
in order to proceed. As I looked more into it, I was at first questioning why change the controller wireless technology, seeing how it worked so well on the 360. Then I realized that this is to make the experience faster. Kudos to M$ for taking the chance.
Suppose the change in technology requires a bit of getting used to and/or making some certain accommodations to ensure a proper communication - something that perhaps not everyone is doing or is aware of, which may have resulted in so many complaints. At least
here's hoping that this is the case as only time will tell if the One is built well or whether it's your typical Chinese made junk.

It sounds like you enjoy racing games so I'm suggesting Forza Horizon 2 it's an open world racing game. It's alot of fun.

 

Yep, Horizon 2 is great, we play it on the 360 when my son's friend brings his over. But THE one racing game I'm hoping to see coming out is a new Project Gotham Racing. Nothing is more fun than PGR. Anyone knows if there's a future release coming this way?

 

UPDATE: Since i have turned off the option for kinect to sign me in, ie just sign in, I no longer get controller disconnects.

I know Phil Spencer about a year or so back on OXM said that he would love to see PGR return to Xbox One but with the likes of Forza, Forza Horizon that he and Microsoft felt that there was enough racing games on the console for the time being.

He did also say though that loads of fans have been asking for a return but he thinks it would be at least 2 or 3 years of yet.

My bet it will return. Maybe get some remaster/HD remake first then a totally new one not too long after.

My bet is we will get an announcement sometime in 2016.

Glad to report I just brought home a brand new One - currently updating itself and glad to say the wifi works just fine. Thanks again for setting my fears straight, you guys gave me the answers I was after. And since it comes with the year long warranty,
I'm that much more confident that this was the right move. Once I install the games and all else will be hiding it till Christmas. Definitely not a way to spend Christmas day with two young boys wondering what's taking so long, so best to do it all now and
repackage everything.

Loftywho thanks for sharing your take on PGR, this just gave me the hope I needed that we will one day see a new release. The fan base is too large to be ignored and lets face it, as great a game as Forza Moto and Horizon are, they just don't match up to
PGR in fun factor. I'd line up to buy that game, it's borderline turning into a cult classic. Microsoft please pay attention: the game that started it all shouldn't be abandoned. Pgr, Halo may be the new flag bearer but PGR is king.

I have the Xbox 1 Day 1 console with Kinect, and I must say the Wi-Fi hardware is better than that on my Xbox 360 slim console. Check to see if you can use a modern modem from your ISP, not some 5 or 10 year old internet modem. Xbox 1 consoles get manufactured
in large quantities, so you may get one which is poorly made by whoever it is Microsoft assigns, to manufacturer the console. Many things seem to be "made in China". I haven't experienced any hardware faults with my console, maybe I'm just one of the lucky
ones. 21st century Wi-Fi technology has it's limits though, and consumers should be aware that Wi-Fi transmissions between walled rooms and too many devices like phones computers other consoles on the home network, can interfere. Also, most electronics still
tend to use the 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi frequency band, which can also cause some interference. With both my Xbox 1 and Xbox 360 wireless controllers, I can take them anywhere in the house the kitchen lounge bedroom, and it still carries out commands that the console
can receive. The wireless controllers for Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 must have a range of I'd say from my experience, at least 10 metres.
