New Xbox One still having problems with wifi?

Before I drop $500 on a One and have angry, disappointed kids come Christmas cause their controllers keep disconnecting during gameplay, I wanted to first check to see if someone can shed some light on whether hardware improvements have been made on models
sold in stores today. There's no denying that Ones have cheaply built, prone to failure wifi cards that affect not only the controllers (constant temporary disconnects) but also one's ability to connect to the net. And there's no shortage of complaints in
this forum and dozens of others to back this up, which has me put an end to the plan of buying One.

Question is, has anything changed since launch? Or is the hardware I'd be buying today fitted with the same underpar wifi card that's been plaguing so many Ones? Tempted to buy the Gears of War bundle (plus Forza 6) as a Christmas gift for the boys but not
until I can be reassured that MS rectified the problem. Else I'll simply wait another year or get them a PS4 instead, or just let them enjoy their 360 with the dozens of titles we already own. Last thing I want is the nightmarish scenarios that so many here
have had, with having to send in their consoles (weeks without the unit) or having the issue starting shortly after warranty expires, then having to give M$ another $160 for a fix.

I'm not keen on the PS4, their controllers are too small for my hands, but I just have to remind myself that this would be a gift for the kids and their hands are small enough to handle that silly little controller. I definitely would like to get a One,
if anything for Halo and Forza - but not if I'd be getting garbage hardware that will require expensive repairs down the line. So if someone can confirm that MS has made improvements to the design, please do let me know. Thanks for keeping up with the long
    read.

    :)

  2. Still having problems with DR3

Just revived an email back from capcom support

    Dear Zac,

Thank you for contacting us. I'm very sorry you have had a bad experience with Dead Rising 3. This team doesn't support the XboxOne version of the game but it seems that you have been through the regular channels and haven't found a satisfactory solution.

I have escalated your case to the developers and will get back to you when I have a response. It may take a couple of days before you hear from me.

I do apologise for any inconvenience caused.

    Best Regards,

    Julie L.

    Capcom Technical Support

*** Die E-Mail-Adresse wurde aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt. ***

So, why doesn't the main email for support on the website, and the email that MS told me to contact actually deal with XB1? More pillar to post, and never any answers or compensation for it

  3. Still having problems with DR3

Still having problems with game breaking bugs, Capcom FB is useless aswell, straight up ignoring me now. So frustrated. Don't even want to go into details of the problem because of the amount of times i've had to explain it. even on the capcom forum the
tech support said "oh well, hope it gets sorted"

this vid shows the problem i'm having, it's not my video but it's exactly the same

New Xbox One still having problems with wifi?

Didn't realize the Xbox One had Wi-Fi issues? I've never had a problem gaming or streaming on my Xbox One over Wi-Fi and as far as I know, none of my friends have either.

I hadn't realized this to be an issue till a couple of days ago when I came across a negative review at walmart's site. As I searched for similar complaints I couldn't believe the number of posts out there from users having similar issues. It seems the majority
has to do with temp disconnects (a second or so but enough to ruin your game) and others seem to no longer have wifi working at all. This has me very concerned, as these numbers are too many to be seen as a fluke. $500 (plus more as we buy new games) is a
too big an investment on something that has me questioning the integrity of the components. The One seems far from the rock-solid build of the 360. For instance, we have 8 controllers for the 360 and they're flawless, despite much abuse. Now the One controller
seems to be a lot weaker, with many complaints about the left stick malfunctioning. Which has me that much more hesitant to invest in a One at this time.

As stated above, I much prefer to stick to the Xboxes. So if someone can tell me if improvements since the day one units has been made, that'd go long ways into my decision to buy or drop it. Thanks all.

  6. Don't know how true it is, but someone said in a youtube vid that the wireless 360 controllers connected via RF and the X1 controllers connected via wifi.

So in a home where the distance from the console to where the gamer was setting was beyond, for example 5 or more feet. The X1 Wifi connectiing the console to the controller was weak which could cause disconnects.

I don't actually own an Xbox One but do know that from 20 feet away, (Farthest away I can actually get) the 360 controller works as good as it would from 7 feet away from the console.

  7. I think the biggest problem seems to be that there is more than one issue that can cause controller disconnects. Then, either the users don't even bother to try troubleshooting on their own and just run to the internet to complain, or they think that some
of the suggestions made are 'stupid' and don't try them.

    There's also people who, when they're asked to perform certain troubleshooting steps, will say things like;

"I can't do that because [insert reason here]" <When in truth, it's often simply 'inconvenient' to do that, more so than they "can't".

"I shouldn't have to do that" <While it is true, the product should work without issues and there may be inconvenience to some troubleshooting steps... "shouldn't have to" isn't going to fix anything.

Here's one example of a known issue... that isn't all that well known... and I'd be willing to bet that if you suggested the step involved to troubleshoot for that issue to some people, they'd look at you like you just sprouted a second head.

My nephew started having frequent issues with his controller disconnecting "just for a few seconds". He called support several times, trying different steps each time. Finally, after (I think) about the 3rd call, they asked him if his router was using the
5GHZ band, or the 2.4GHZ. He said "Both".

They asked him to relocate either his router or his Xbox so that they were farther apart... and it fixed the problem. Apparently 1 of those bands is very close to the frequency used by the Xbox One's controller and if the Xbox and router are close enough
to each other, the router can momentarily 'overpower' the controllers signal to the console.

How many people can you hear saying "That's stupid, what does my router have to do with my controller disconnecting!?" Or "My router has been sitting here forever and I 'can't move' my Xbox... seriously? That's not the problem!" I can think of a few right
away. I can also hear those same people saying "It's a cheap built wi fi card in the Xbox. Not that"...

Just FTR, I've had my X1 since a few weeks after it launched. Just lately, I've been having a few disconnect issues... infrequent, but they still happen. One of the suggested troubleshooting steps is to check batteries because sometimes rechargeable ones
will cause disconnect issues when they start to get low, even before the "low battery" indicator pops.

I have rechargeable batteries that I got with the console, so the math should tell you they're getting a bit old. Guess what? Popping in a fresh set of batteries after the first disconnect... regardless of whether or not the indicator has popped yet or not...
solves the problem. Well, for a few days until the fresh charged set starts to get low.

Think about it. How many people do you think would have the patience to put forth the effort to figure that out before they ran to the internet, crying 'shoddy hardware' because it seemed random?

New Xbox One still having problems with wifi?

No denying? Could tell you about the consoles I own with no problems, or maybe the friends that own them with no problems, or mention my girlfriends X Box One with no problems...

But I won't since there is no denying.

First I have heard of this "widespread" problem that's undeniable. Never had a controller disconnect unless the batteries failed....

I wonder whether this widespread problem is related to people who are in the preview program? I'm in it and have had a few controller disconnects that I never used to have before enrolling, but nothing major that would make me want to complain about it.

New Xbox One still having problems with wifi?

    @ Joolz,

( I'm not in the preview programme )

The main issue I use to have with the controller disconnecting was when playing Battlefield 4. Sometimes it wouldn't happen for days, other times it could happen 3 or 4 times in the space of an hour.

It also happened once or twice randomly on different games but nothing major and since I've had my new 1TB console, it hasn't happened at all.

If it was me and you want the Xbox One for yourself/kids I'd say go for it. Of course there will always been problems, some people suffer more than others, same can be said for any console or anything else you buy, new TV, phone, these things happen but
for me over all the Xbox One has been excellent, very few problems.

What I always point out as well. Again people have had problems, there's no console out there that doesn't have issues and once more, some have more issues than others. When you read the internet though, whether it be forums like this, Twitter etc I think
the problems always seem a little bit worse than they actually are. I say this because people are very quick to post when there's a problem, not so quick to post about the enjoyment their having, probably because their too busy playing and having fun.

    Hope it all works out.

Never had the controllers disconnect but my day one console has had wifi issues since day one. The wifi typically does not connect when the console boots but it will connect automatically after about 5 minutes or so. Or I just pick my other wifi 5ghz v's
2.4ghz and it usually connects right up. Annoying yes. My wifi router is in LOS, and I made sure that the power levels were good and the channels were clear. Sorry to say I don't have a clear answer for the wifi issue.

Thanks all for your feedback, it helps in deciding to go with the One. However I'm not totally convinced that there isn't a problem with the wifi based on the number of complaints. Search for this line: "Xbox One controller disconnect problems". A great
number of posts, including some right here at this forum. And some of these are clearly hardware related as the problem only went away after a wifi board replacement.

The PS4 and their miniscule controller would be fine for the kids but would keep me out. It literally hurts my hands trying to use the PS3, only managed to play Grant Turismo once due to the torture. I'm a gamer too and I'd be damned if I passed on the One
due to what I now hope are isolated problems with the console. Guess if we do get one for Christmas that I'll be keeping a close eye on the wifi and how it performs. Still not convinced that this is problem-free but hope to be proved otherwise.
