The X Box 360 outsold the PS3 worldwide (Total units sold.) up until a couple years ago. Software sales on AAA titles also did better on the 360 over the PS3 and Wii during that time. So I would say the 360 dominated during the time it was relevant.

Is the PS4 dominant over the X1? I would give a definite YES...at this time (Things could change.). Do it matter to me? Not unless Meryl Lynch is investing my money on a dead horse. Lol.

    Peace, J.R.

" I guess that depends on who you ask"

Who are you talking to ?

These "facts" you are spewing off are nothing more than heresy and conjecture without backing.

I understand that you are no longer an Xbox user.

CodeCat I would say that they certainly did a horrible job. But I know that some of them where not fully on board with everything but it can be tough when the ones above you are pushing an idea for money making reasons. If they are thinking it will be
more profitable it can be tough to influence a course change. Obviously MS is a very huge and successful company but they were making some terrible decisions in a few categories.

As for the 360 dominating, it most certainly did. Considering no presence at all in Japan and we can see how well it was doing. Given that the 360 regularly outsold PS3 (everywhere but Japan) it was really dominating. It must be noted that the PS brand
has a larger fan base and that the 360 did so well more due to early price than anything. That was huge and allowed the 360 to do so well. It is also part of the reason the PS4 is doing so well. I know many myself that were PS gamers that went 360 due to
considerable cost difference at the time and they just never looked back. Ended up picking up PS3 later or not at all.

Wii, well, that is a special case. Seems like everyone had a Wii. And then either a 360 or PS3 to go with it. Then you had the grandma/grandpa bunch that got them for the grandkids. And the super casual that picked one up. So it was a special market
case. PS3 and 360 where outside a sizable portion of that market. And the One and PS4 will not get that market either. WiiU itself failed to keep those buyers engaged.

I really hope they do revise the consoles. A slim would be fine. Even a slim that is cheaper due to no drive. I have ones with drives but I would not mind having a cheaper model that has no Blu-ray drive built in as well. I am guessing they would not
do that but I do know people that would jump at that since they are all digital. 4k streaming support, if that is not there yet, is something I know some would want. And I guess they could update the wireless card or something.

"In fact, record sales and millions of subscriptions to XBL sealed their dominance for the last gen."

Um, dominance? How do you figure that when both PS3 and Wii outsold the 360? The 360 definitely did well, but it didn't "dominate" anything.

It doesn't matter what specs it has.

It's what it does with them.

Microsoft are already able to outperform the PS 4 with a lower spec machine using their lesser resources more efficiently through the cloud servers.

Most people jumped up and down when MS said they wanted the ONE to be Online only convinced that Microsoft wanted to hold gamers hostage when all along it appears they had something completely different in mind.

Here we've got arm chair quarterbacks telling us what resources a machine needs to deliver the best performance but there's a reason these guys are roaming internet forums quoting stuff they read on NeoGAF instead of working for Microsoft, Nintendo or Sony.

As does my original point. Dominance is nice and all, but it has never once swayed my decision to buy or keep buying a product. Knowledge of whether or not I'm buying a "dominant" product does little more than make me feel good and maybe give me a bit of
a confidence boost when I purchase it.

"Those were still counted as" sales" though."

    Wrong.

How does Microsoft report a $1.+ Billion loss on the 360 and count that as sales? They don't.

Get your facts straight. Or please provide a credible link to your statement.
