New Xbox One S drops network connection when in Instant On mode

Discus and support New Xbox One S drops network connection when in Instant On mode in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; Figured I'd jump in here even though the thread is for the One S. I've had the original Xbox One since release and to this day I am still having this... Discussion in 'XBoX on Consoles' started by DiscoNinja07, Mar 19, 2017.

New Xbox One S drops network connection when in Instant On mode

I to still have issues using instant on on a wired connection, can never turn console on via app on wired connection and auto downloading games is hit and miss. I notice when it's been in instant on for a short time the orange light goes off on Ethernet
port when it shud permanently stay on as my ps4 doesn't have these issues. Getting a bit tired of reporting via console and nothing being done about it. I've tried wireless although it's a bit better still not great. Tell me Trentelshark do you have similar
issues. Everything seems fine when console is powered fully on

    :)

    HDCP issues

I am having an issue when in Instant On Mode Cox Cable DVR-->Xbox One-->TV. When I wake it up it the video goes to static/"snow" and audio drops for one second every six seconds exactly.

  3. Xbox one won't register my internet password

If you have your Xbox One on instant on mode turn it to energy saving mode instead. Instant on causes alot of problems with networks.

New Xbox One S drops network connection when in Instant On mode

oh well it looks like this horrible issue of disconnecting from live in standby has returned. I'm in preview ring 3 and just got latest update and still no fix for turning on via the app. Don't think this is ever gona be fixed, they can add features all they
want but if the basics don't function properly what's the point, they can also bring out a more powerful console in the Scorpio but what is the point if it's running on the same rubbish operating system. Patience is wearing very thin now I'm just sorry I have
Xbox live until next January what a waste

I've recently dove into getting my son's Xbox One a better network connection, and I have been met with the same frustrations as everyone on here. It was on wireless with extremely poor download speeds. When he got Call of Duty for Christmas, he had to
wait until the next day to play it as the updates for that game alone ran all night. I blamed our Verizon Fios router's wireless. It seemed to get worse, so I read that I was a fool for using wireless on an Xbox. So this past weekend, I went hog wild building
my home network (I'm a network engineer by trade). I ran 11 Cat6 network drops in the house, installed a rack in the basement with a 24p patch panel, moved the fios router to the basement as well, put in a Cisco 2960G switch, and installed two Cisco wireless
access points so I could turn off the Actiontec's Wifi. Seemed bulletproof and overbuilt to me. After it was all done and I was feeling proud, I noticed on my switch logs that my port going to the Xbox was bouncing like crazy. It was going up/down every
few seconds. I assumed I had a bad network drop. I got the same results on another. I then brought home our fancy wire tester, and sure enough, the network drop passed all Cat6 testing standards, and is only 26' long. I plug it all back in, and thats when
I noticed it was settling in at 10/Full speeds. I quickly confirm that it can indeed handle Gig on the Xbox NIC, then I troubleshoot some more. I ran cable tests on both my 3' Cat6 patch cord and my 1' Cat6 patch cord on the other end. All passed. I tried
different patch cords from other vendors to be sure that wasn't it. I did hard reboots of Xbox, and that seemed to make it settle out at 1000/Full, but then it would go back to 10/Full and get stuck there. I changed the switchport configuration all sorts
of ways. Spanning-tree portfast on or off had the same results. I hard coded the switchport for 1000/Full, but Xbox didn't want to talk unless it was auto/auto. It still bounces occasionally, but not nearly as bad as it originally did. So I'm still at a
point where it keeps getting stuck at 10/Full. I can reboot to get it back to 1000/Full, but it's not working as it should. I'm not sure the software version on Xbox is, but I know I've done an update within the last week. I'll verify when I get home. I
also think that ours is an original Xbox One, not an S. I know the network side, but I'm an Xbox newb. If you need anymore info to help troubleshoot this, please let me know. Thanks!

My 1TB One S having the same problem when Instant-On feature enabled.

To overcome it, I have to use Energy-Saving mode.

New Xbox One S drops network connection when in Instant On mode

Hi all I'm having the same issues with Xbox one s 2tb version (although my son's 500gb version does not have this problem). Looking at this 8 month old thread Microsoft is not doing anything about it.

what is going on Microsoft? Ever since I have had the Xbox one I notice it switches light to amber (10/100 mbit mode) on my router in instant on mode but at least overnight it still received updates etc. However I have noted since the last update mid month
it has been doing exactly as most posters describe and switching from green to off to amber and back to green constantly whilst in standby indicating it is constantly re negotiating speeds and presumably unable to check for updates in stand by mode. Why is
this issue going unfixed given it was initially raised over 8 months ago?!!!

  11. exact same here. Probably since last update I see connectivity light on my router moving from gigabit (green) to Amber (10/100) and off and then back on. Somethings seriously wrong with instant on / standby mode in the recent update. All my friends seeing
the same their Xbox ones too. How did this get past QA testing Microsoft?it's pretty shambolic

  12. Same problem here,

got a new Xbox One S and after PowerON in 2 out of 10 cases it could not connect to XBOX LIVE.

I tried factory reset / instant on / energy saver / different wlan router / Insider Builds / without any results.

The xbox dont even find a wireless network, it needs several restarts.

The Problem vanishes if I connect the box with a Lan Cable.

I hope its not a hardware related issue

  14. I have posted my issues in other forums but would like to chime in here. I have been experiencing similar issues when in instant on mode. My network crashes and everything hard connected to my router goes down over night. When I switch it to energy saver
I have no problems. This is a rather strange issue. I have yet to determine why this is happening. I'm just wondering if anyone has tried the following 1) open the recommended ports on router and 2) alternate MAC address. I am not a fan of opening ports nor do
I believe this would help so I have yet to try this. Microsoft seriously needs to fix this issue ASAP or at least give us some reasoning as to why we are experiencing these issues!

  15. I'm having the same problem. "Instant-On" mode is broken. It's a software issue. Do I need to hack into my xbone and fix it myself? Ridiculous that this has been a known issue for this long.
