New Xbox One owner with some questions.

So I bought an Xbox One recently and having owned so many consoles over the years I can say this one is my favorite! However I do have a few quick questions about the system itself and games,etc.

First.

If I purchase a movie off of the Xbox store can I download it do my Xbox One hard drive?

Is there a way to play music off of a jump drive/flash drive while also playing a game (both at the same time)?

Is it ok to leave an Xbox One with Instant On setting? I ask because I've read that it isn't good for the system?

Can I use an external HD for storage for games, movies ,etc that are purchased off Xbox store?

For 3, covering the cameras with a towel or otherwise blocking them is what other people have done (haven't tried it myself).

The HDMI pass through does NOT work with the xbox one off. Also if you play. 360 games through the pass through there is a delay. For instance I tried MLB 2K13 could not hit anything ball was always past me before I could swing because of delay.

1 not as far as I know

2 I know music apps can be run in the snap window for now. I've never used but other is a media player app available. Unfortunately you have to keep the snap open which reduces your game screen. But I hear they're working on a way around this.

3 I had a day one console and never had a problem with instant on. I prefer it. Occasionally I will put it into power save mode if I'm going to be away for the weekend.

4 the one does support external drives but I'm not sure how it manages movies or music files.

if you purchase a movie.. it will save to your cloud drive... meaning you can stream it on the X1 or on a tablet.. or on a windows phone etc etc... it is YOURS.. even on a friends XB, if signed in.. the movie will follow you...

as for the ON question... my XB has been turned off a total of maybe 10 times since I had it... (release day) Instant on setting is probably recommended as you will have updates automatically done... and anything you purchase remotely will auto DL

 

I keep mine on instant mode all the time. No problems.

 

Regarding the movie, it's stream only, so no, you can't download it. However, because you can stream it, you can access it from virtually any Windows-enabled device (and then some...) that can support both the Internet and video.
