    New xbox one, old 360 gamertag issues...


    IThe might just be me being a dummy but I cannot get my brand new xbox one to recognise the gamertag I had on my 360. It says that it fail due to the email address being a Hotmail account (or words to that effect) help please?

    Ran into an issue with backwards compatible games. (Please Help.)

    Your old gamertag is in the xbox 360 cache you have to go to settings and remove the linked account before you can add the new one. This happened to me 2 when i changed the lame tag microsoft assigned me. Even if you put the correct information and passcodes ot wont download your new gamertag until you remove the old linked account

    Uhhh.. Actually, i cannot figure out where to delete that old profile. it still comes up when i try logging into a Xbox 360 Live game.

    I have two gamertags on one profile. So confused...

    I only changed the gamertag on 360. I have my actual name and two gamertags on the Xbox One. One old, one new, on the same profile.

    Hey guys this is a very old thread and you should create a new one detailing your issues.

    chiefav8r - it is true the Family Plan is no longer in use on the 360 but one gamertag can share their Gold membership on the Xbox One by adding that gamertag to their Family through the Settings menu. Something the Playstation has yet to offer.

    Issues with gamertag merging

    You supposed to log in into your Xbox 360 in Step 1. The following steps are all done on the 360, too.

    BUT: Important for you is the fact, that only one(!) gamertag can be associated with one(!) live account. So there is no possibility to merge two gamertags into one live account!

    If you say you don't need your new gamertag and only want to use the old one with your new live account, then you need to remove the new gamertag before. How to do this is described in the second section of the How-to. (Resolve the error "The Microsoft account
    you're switching to is already linked to another Xbox account")

    BUT please be aware that your subscriptions are bounded to the respective gamertag! So if you remove your new gamertag you also remove your subscriptions!

    Hopefully this clarifies your issue.
