    New Xbox one experience won't let me install external hdd


    I'm on the new Xbox experience and the Xbox won't format the new 1tb external HDD Usb 3.0 I have bought it's pretty annoying as its not working. It asks me to rename the hdd then it won't let me and a loading circle just continuously loads and nothing happens.
    Just stays like that. It there a work around for it?

    Hello everyone New Xbox one experience won't let me install external hdd :)

    I am really glad that you won't have to re-install games if your Xbox One goes bad New Xbox one experience won't let me install external hdd :)

    I am going to have to transfer all of my installed game stuff to my External HDD when I eventually get it New Xbox one experience won't let me install external hdd :)

    Can I transfer the stuff from the Xbox One HDD to the External HDD without having to delete the game and re-install it to the External HDD?

    DVR for 2016

    NEW NEWS. It has been confirmed as well as having to use an external HDD it also has to be a separate HDD to the game saves /installs one. Thus necessitatingb the need for a second separate ext HDD. That blows! So I would have to price in a new HDD as well as a TV tuner.

    Hey there! To minimize confusion because troubleshooting may be different for preview updates than regular versions, you'll want to post this, and everything else preview related in the preview forums (forums.xbox.com/.../default.aspx).
    This will also ensure that the proper team sees your post and can help you out. Also, make sure you look at the list of known issues to see if there is a workaround.

    If you haven't already, be sure to report any issues via the preview app on your console, so that all relevant data gets reported to Microsoft.

    Link isn't working. I am having the same issue. This is a very big deal with Halo right around the corner and my Xbox is already running super slow from being full.

    On Reddit there are over 50-100 people claiming the same problem, EVERYONE with the preview program is having this issue.

    That is exactly what I was thinking. Hopefully they can get this issue resolved ASAP.

    I have found a work around. Aslong as you have a friend without the new experience.

    Go to their house and format it on their Xbox and it works. Not ideal but it's sorted. I got 1.1tb free now. New Xbox one experience won't let me install external hdd :)

    I dont have anyone in my area to do that.

    I also ready that you can just opt out of the preview program and once it goes back o the old home screen set up, then you can format with no issues.
