New Xbox next year concern

Hi

I’m totally new here, and new to xbox. So please bear with me:

My 8yo Son has his heart set in an Xbox for Christmas, my only concern is that I’ve heard about the new one coming out next year, so, will the current xbox become redundant, and will he not be able to get the latest games for it once the new one is out?

If you got a new Xbox now i would get the one x, but be sure you get any extra warranties and but digital because the bd disc drives are cheap and die quickly. I am on my second xb1 and the disc drive is crapping out already (xbox one x). The games are
great, xbl is great and i like the game pass, but the physical disc drive is garbage and will most likely for on you after a year or two.

As with the Xbox 360, support will continue for years with the Xbox One. All the current backwards compatible games and all Xbox One titles will be available to play. Also, for the first (at least) year of Scarlett games will be released on both platforms.

Microsoft already told that games and acessories will be all compatible with new console, so dont worry;

Don't worry. An X will be supported by all new games and everything. Long after Scarlett will be out. It is a great machine. So, by an X model and he will be set for the next few years. And welcome to the community. Both of you.
