New Xbox Issues

Hello,

I got an xbox one on Thursday but there are a couple of things that aren't working as I'd expect them to.

The 1st one is that on the main menu a lot of the store and what's on boxes are just grey, rather than having any images in them. Same when I went into EA Access, the box which is obviously meant to be a picture of the game is just a grey box. Also in the
settings, I'm not able to change the background colour, it just says we're unable to change the colour at this time.

Is this an issue with the box, or is it because I'm in the UK or something?

The 2nd issue is that every so often the display goes black for a second or two and then comes back. This seems to happen when the scene changes in a game, dvd or TV. Like when you are taking a corner in a racing game or when a film changes to another location.

I've tried resetting the box, holding the button down for 10 seconds, then waiting for 10 before restarting. I've tried different HDMI port's on the TV, calibrated the TV via the xbox settings and tried different HDMI cables as well.

Could these just be bugs that a new software update will fix, is there any issues just now or is my box just kaput?

When you are are power cycling your Xbox are you removing the plug from the socket? Also have you tried holding LT + RT + Y?the only time I have known images to not load is either from a live issue or people using BT home hub

 

I've not tried that but I'll give that a go tomorrow. It is a BT Hub that I'm using. What's the story with that?

Can you open Internet Explorer on the Xbox One and one of the tabs should have a BT hub web page. Go ahead and open that page and follow the instructions before finally signing into your BT account. Once all signed in hard reset the console and that may
solve your issue

I've managed to get the hub sorted so now see the menus but still getting random black screens during gameplay or movies. Tried the lt+rt+y, power cycle taking the plug out, changing the display settings from auto discover to hdmi, tried all combinations
of the allow 50hz and 24hz boxes. Still keeps popping up. It's not constant, just a second or two then goes back to normal.

Any ideas?

The screen going blank for a moment or two could be related to a bad connection on your TV or the cable itself. I would try using a different cable, port on your TV, or a different TV entirely to see if the problem persists.

Yeah, tried all the hdmi inputs on the TV, different hdmi cables and on another TV. It's only via the Xbox it happens. When I plug sky straight into the TV it works fine. So does Apple TV.

I'm just going to take it back and get another one as I've only owned it since the 16th and it's been happening since then.

Managed to get the issue fixed as it was still happening with the new Xbox. It seems to have been something with the sound and the hdmi cables I was using. I fixed it by trying to set the display to dvi, which automatically turned off the hdmi sound. At
first I didn't notice the sound was off for a minute but then persevered for a half hour and the black flicker never happened, so I went and bought an optical cable so I could put the sound straight to my soundbar, rather than hdmi to the TV and then on to
the soundbar. Used the Xbox a fair bit yesterday and no issues so think that's it.
