New XBOX Gold Membership Won't Let me Access Games for Gold

I just added a Gold XBOX Live subscription to my account. I have been trying to activate Borderlands to my account, but it keeps asking me for a Gold Subscription. I have already paid for a whole year. How long does it take to activate? Seems like it should
be instant. Every time i check my XBOX live status it says I have a Gold Subscription. Any help would be appreciated!

My son has a gold membership on his 360. I don't have a gold membership. If I add my son's profile to my new Xbox One, then it will give me gold membership as well?

Games with gold not working

Sorry to hear it. Xbox One Games with Gold games do require a Gold membership in order to continue playing them. If your membership expires you'll either need to purchase the game or continue on with a new membership.

Xbox 360 Games with Gold games are your to keep regardless of your membership status.

That's the thing. I currently have Xbox live gold but can not access my games. I bought a year subscription but it won't let me access my previous games with gold

Your showing as gold. You can try removing your profile then downloading it again and see if that fixes it.

Prixxie, I actually had this problem as well. It took quite a while for my Xbox One to recognize this. You can do one of two things:

1) Just search the game you know is the current freebie, and it will show up as free for you.

2) Wait a few days for your Xbox One to recognize the change. Doing a hard shut down (shutting down the Xbox One and then unplugging it for a minute) may help speed up this process.

I have jus got my xbox live 1 month free but my freinds show as offline. They can send msg to me and i get them right away but when they send me a game invite it says i cant join cause i am not freinds with anyone on that game z help already lost 2 days

Ok... looks like the issue was with Chrome... maybe something was cached. I logged in with IE. I have never gone to the XBOX website with IE so maybe that was it. Oh well... got the game I was after!

The games were all purchased with my account/Gold membership... And I guess if I set his Xbox as "home", games purchased for me and the rest of the family won't be accessible for the new Xbox...? Only on his?

Of course, I could just let him keep my account and access to Gold on his Xbox, but then I reckon I'd run into trouble if we were to try and log in at the same time?
