New Xbox Experience - was NOT ready to go live

Microsoft, is this a joke?

Assuming for a moment that turning the dashboard/home page into a smart phone was something anyone wanted, did it occur to you to perhaps utilize feedback from the preview program members, and mebbe enlist the expertise of quality assurance before crippling
my Xbox One?

To recap:

I was booted from a game mid-session last night to a message screen advising XBL needed an update. Simultaneously it locked out the option to revert to the homepage, opting instead for a "skip and continue offline" option. I like to update immediately and
so I did. The initial update install wasn't really so bad. The load screen functioned properly, and made steady progress. I'd say it took about 4 minutes.

After this however the troubles began. The console shutoff and restarted, and began the "Preparing your console" for the update, load screen. It was 10 minutes into this grueling affair that my wireless controller timed out and shut off for inactivity. Inexplicably
at this point the load screen stopped progressing. ((Side note: putting a % complete counter on the install download screen while omitting one from the preparation load screen was inane. That is sloppy and lazy, and I expect better of you.))

I turned my controller back on at this point and hooked up my usb power cord to prevent another timeout. Whether it was important to have my controller on or not for this update I do not know - because XBL didn't bother to mention it! Even so there was no
further progression on the loading bar, and it appeared to freeze. Though counter to the instruction I had little choice but to power down the console at this point.

On restart 45 seconds later the Xbox booted to the green X1 loading screen...where it remained, for the NEXT 7 HOURS. We should restate so that can sink in; seven hours.

System updates with Xbox One have been a clumsy debacle since launch, but this latest misstep had a very distinct vibe FOR 7 HOURS that it might very well brick my box. These updates
need to be seamless.

To remind you Microsoft, the ability to perform online firmware patches and downloadable updates are a technological means by which to refine and perfect and existing system. THEY ARE NOT a free license to shovel unfinished software modifications
onto a platform, because you can always fix them later, and meet your deadline today.

Consumers will tolerate your shenanigans only so long. After which we will simply take our business elsewhere. Get this fixed, and next time get it right before you shovel arbitrary suffering onto the consumer base that feeds your children.

Fyi next time read the aggreement before you sighn up for a preview

Previews are betas not live final updates's

You can expect bugs my xbox one and many others are working you cant expect a beta which is an early build to work on everyones setttings

This is the beta proccess

You accepted an unfinished product to get the bc update or the dlnew dashboard and other features

Nxoe isnt available publically only to a limited test group it is an actual license to release an unfinished firmware

Noone forced you to be in the test group you chose to sugn up for unfinished betas

 

The preview goes thru many builds before going live to the public

Next time read what you are getting into

Ya i swear people who want to be in the preview just for backwards compatibility dont read their aggreements

You are a tester of new features for a future update

Not the actual update itself

Things may go wrong

If they do they are included in the beta clause which i suggest you read it

Ps4 does not have a preview program where you can test these features ahead of time

Bbry has a preview program like betas or leaks lol

 

You may want to read the beta clause

First work with the preview team and they can help you if needed with the beta clause (very important document for preview members because of what it says . preview members are coverred under a new warranty if the issue is caused by thr preview and cant
be repaired2

 

Which is gernerous since most betas dont have warranties included with them

Betas are usually use at your own risk

Like it was stated above. Nothing about the Preview Program says anything will work 100% right when it comes out for you to download. It is a Preview/Beta Program supposed to be for people who actually want to test new software and report back to Microsoft
giving them advice before the full update goes live.

Next time I suggest you not sign up for stuff when you don't first read all of what you are getting into. And when you are talking about shoveling un-finished software, of course it isn't finished, that's what we are here to help for. To prepare everything
for being finished software. If problems occur, you should have known that this was a definite possibility.
