Yes, go ahead and reach out to the online retailer and request a replacement, if the troubleshooting has not helped resolve the problem then it is more than likely the controller itself that may be faulty.

times with no luck. Each time staying on the hold for over 20 minutes ....

It seems you went to the wrong places, as I just tried the following myself, and could in theory sign up my Elite 2 Controller for repair.

Please go to https://devicesupport.microsoft.com and sign in with your Microsoft Account.

If not already done so, register your CONSOLE on the page, or just select your already registered console.

Click on the link to start a service repair.

From the two Drop Down menus, choose you have trouble with an accessory, and in the second Drop Down menu choose your Elite Series 2 Controller.

Follow the instructions to complete the sign up process.

You'll then get an email to your Microsoft Account with a shipping label. Print that out, and contact your local UPS carrier to have them pick up the package.

If you called the Microsoft Support yourself, be aware that Microsoft discontinued the method to call them. If you call them, yes, no one will pick up.

Instead, go to https://beta.support.xbox.com/contact-us and click the button to contact support.

Please be aware of the times of operation.

You should be able to chat with support via a text based chat, or get them to call you back. That way you don't have to wait in a loop, and instead do other stuff until they call you.

Thanks for reply. Bought from an online retailer so will contact tomorrow when open. Have looked through troubleshooting and not helped with issue.
