New Xbox app update killed my sound

Hi,

So i used the new streaming feature on the ios xbox app to remotely play my xbox. Great, no issues. Go to play again today on a different xbox, load up the game and after a couple of minutes the sound cuts out. I think, maybe my app is still open, nope.
Open again and start streaming, sound from my phone and the console now. Stop the stream and the sound goes.

The only way i can now have sound on either of my xbox ones is to be streaming to my phone at the same time.

Ive tried turning off the remote features on the xbox already and no dice.

try restarting your xbox?, reconnecting the xbox app?, maybe restarting your phone too? also hold the xbox button on the xbox until it shuts off, doing a good restart, you will NOT lose anything if you do this so dont be scared to restart.

Have you tried a different cable to connect your Xbox to the TV?

I tried the same thing, with hdmi and fiber optic, but i get no sound from my subwoofer, so games sound tinny and pretty ****.... I got full surround with HDMI before the most recent update, something they did killed it (for my system, anyways which has
a very new 7.1 receiver)

I love it, the best part about new updates is all the " update killed my Xbox" threads lol.

I have also not been getting the chiming sounds since upgrading to 8.1. The card shuffling sounds are normal, but the chimes are silent. My option to roll back drivers is greyed out and there are no new sound driver updates available. On extremely rare occasions,
I'll get a single chime, but then it's back to the silence again. It thus seems like the chime sounds are still possible, but just not happening.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app since it didn't seem like my apps were getting updated. I'm still not convinced that I have the new update as I don't notice anything different about the app once it was reinstalled. I never had any issues
with graphics.

I am using an Asus VivoBook with a touch screen.
