new XB1 controller on PC - no audio

    hello folks,

I've got quite a difficult one that I can't seem to solve:

    - have new Xbox One controller with integrated headphone jack (3.5mm)

    - have new Microsoft Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10

    - have Microsoft Xbox Stereo Headet

    - have Microsoft Stereo Headset adapter

Running Windows 10 (all available updates installed, build 1511 - november update).

Controller firmware updated as of November 28th.

I connect the wireless adapter to USB, power on the new controller and pair successfully. The controller works with games, all buttons working, very little lag. So far so good. When I connect the stereo headset to the controller, my windows volume control
shows "Headphones (USB Audio Device)" but I can't hear anything. I thought maybe it doesn't work wirelessly, so I unplugged the wireless adapter and connected my new controller via USB. The same thing happens, no sound.

I unplugged my headset from the new controller, I plugged in the stereo headset adapter into the new controller, I plugged in my headset into the adapter. In Windows sound settings, I see "Headphones (USB Audio Device) - 2" but now the sound works! So I
unplug the controller from USB and pair it again with my Windows 10 Wireless adapter. The audio works, as long as the headset adapter is connected to the controller. The built-in headphone jack on the new controller doesn't produce sound.

I checked the forums before posting and others are stating they are having issues but they can get the sound to work. Any suggestions?

    :)

Headset with Xbox One S controller not producing audio

I recently got a new xbox one s controller and a new headset with a jack. I can hear everyone and everything just fine; however, no audio is being produced. On party chat my gamertag pops up as if I am talking but no one
    can hear me.

Originally I thought it was an issue with the controller and/or headset, but connecting my headset to my controller (via jack) and my controller to my pc (via wireless adapter) and it produces audio just fine. Even putting different headsets to
my controller produces audio just fine on my pc and putting the original headset to the jack on my pc works fine.

I'm guessing that there may be something wrong with my console. Any help would be appreciated!

new XB1 controller on PC - no audio

Wow that is a unique problem. All I can say is that I'm using Windows 10, Wireless Adapter, XBO controller with 3.5mm jack and a pair of base Apple ear buds. With a paired and sync'd controller and the ear buds inserted into the 3.5mm port, Windows switches
from my TV audio to the head phones without any issue.

My only idea would be to try out your setup with a different headset. I get that it would be extremely weird if the xbox stereo headset wouldn't work with your setup, but I'm only suggesting this for trouble shooting purposes.

Keep in mind ot get my setup working I didn't have to do anything out of the ordinary to make it work. Windows detects my ear buds and switches the audio input to the controller. Once I unplug it, it goes back to Window 10/TV

Could it also possibly be which device you have set to default in your audio list?? Maybe mess around with that.

    Microsoft really screwed up, Again

    [quote user="vG Ghostz"]

No Mythago you see the diff between the xb1 and ps4 headsets is ps4 uses the same audio as the ps3 but xb1 now uses a better audio so good its better then a mobile phone so it needs a new connctor port not a 3.5mm like the ps3 and ps4 uses. ill b using my
xb1 headset i get with the console and my astros when im not chatting coz i expect to be kicking *** on bf4 with LOFTY WHO and co

I don't understand? I thought audio out would only be a jack plug, phono, or optical. I thought the connection on the pad was mostly for audio in, So could you not have surround sound headphones plugged directly into the TV audio out and use the Kinect for
voice without anything plugged into the control pad??

    Xbox One S Headset Jack

Thank you for both of your replies. My son uses the HyperX Cloud Alpha Pro Gaming Headset, that replaced his Turtle Beach headphones, which he still has but which were too staticky. Are you saying the controller for the original Xbox One works with the XBox
One S? That's an option, if it happens again, but hopefully this new way of leaving the headset plugged in will work. Thanks again.
OK, first things first. Have you checked to see if the controller firmware needs an update? Changing from the TB headset might require one. You may also want to go into Settings, Display & Sound, Audio Output and check to make sure that the proper audio
is being output to the headset itself. Anytime I make any changes or firmware updates, I restart the console... even if it isn't 'required'... just as a preventative measure. But that's just me.

I would check into those options before considering a new controller. But yes, the controllers for XB1 and XB1s communicate with the console the same way. As I said, my wife uses an XB1s controller on her OG XB1. I have used my Elite controller on both of
our consoles (XB1 and XB1s). There's not much difference between the OG controllers and the "S" controllers except some ergonomic changes. The older XB1 controllers didn't have a 3.5mm jack, just FYI, so keep that in mind if you do eventually try that route.

Also, are you using the 3.5mm jack or are you using the USB adaptor with the headset? I only did a quick check on the HyperX Cloud Alphas and it looks like you can use either. If memory serves, the XB1s controllers have both jacks. It might be worth a try
to switch and use the other jack to see if that helps.

Xbox controller removes sound on PC when connected.

    Hi There,

Sorry for the frustrations this does sound irritating and unusual. You stated that you delete the Xbox controller from audio devices, have you instead tried to disable it? If you delete it Windows will just reinstall the drivers each time. Is your controller
perhaps losing connection to your pc when this occurs? If you are using a lose connection or the controllers wireless connection is interrupted it could cause it to reconnect and mess with the audio on your pc as a new audio device has been detected.
