New X|S series Xbox controller is treated as a joystick upon pairing

Is this a common issue? I have seen at least one reddit thread started earlier today were many purchasers of the new X|S series Xbox controller are having the same issue.

It was suggested that 20H2 would fix this; but it didn't.

Yes, it appears to be a common issue. I have the same problem. Works fine wired, but only detected as generic direct input controller when connected via BT.

I read
on this thread, that you can fix it with the Xbox Accessories App but no dice here. Not sure if you need the Accessories App and 20H2. I'm at a bit of a loss as some have said it's working, but I haven't been successful yet. I haven't updated to 20H2 though.

i just had the same (or very similar) issue with an series x/s controller, what fixed it for me was to forget the controller from my paired bluetooth devices and re-pair it.
