new update

well after updating my xbox my external hard drive keeps telling me its ready every 5 secs its seems to not like the update after restarting xbox a few times with out hard drive plugged in the plugging it back in seems to do the trick so far .it kept hanging
every time if would say external storage is ready if was fine before update .

so far it seems to be working but they might want people to know to unplug external storage before running the new update

whilst Xbox LIVE is a paid for service the BBC wont allow it to have iPlayer on it...it is a shame though

 

If you have anymore problems try doing a hard reset of your console by holding the power button on the front of the console for 10 sec until it shuts off then unplug it from the outlet for 30 sec then plug it back in and power back on and you should be good
to go.

spoke too soon..lol it is still saying hard drive connected every once and a while and it hangs till it reads the external ....took external drive to friends house it works fine reads it once then he did update on his xbox and it read it every 5 secs till
he powered everything down now it detects the external randomly while the xbox is just there not being used same as my xbox this was not the problem till i did the update hope they fix this

 

It looks like it's a bug and support is aware of it. Do you by any chance have another usb 3.0 cable that you could try? See if that works.

 

tried swapping cables either hard drive external still does it it seems if the console not being used that is when it does it 2 to 3 minutes if im playing a game off the external its fine as long as i dont go to the main screen by hitting the xbox button
if will exit out of any game in 2 to 3 min say connected to external and i have to load the game again this has to be update i used to be able to play a game jump out jump back it no problems now it dont work right

 

Go into settings and storage there should be an option to always have the hdd on or shut down when the console shuts down. choose the option that fits your needs the best. check or uncheck it. Also, before you hooked up your ext hdd did you connect it to
your pc to see if it had the latest firmware installed on it? Make sure it does.
