    There's something that I've been wondering about for a while now. I've been wanting to make a name change to my gamertag on Xbox, but the name has been taken by an account that appears to be old, with no info whatsoever, including no games or gamerscore.
    I believe the old tos said that if you didn't check on your microsoft account for five years, as of 2016, then it would be deleted. Well, this had me thinking that I would have to wait until 2021 to make the name change that I wanted. However, with the updated
    tos coming up on August 30th, I'm curious if the account will just be deleted on the 30th? That is, assuming that they haven't signed into their microsoft account in over a year.

    Never mind everyone, just heard about the upcoming update with the gamertags being similar to Discord's, with the four digits after them. But now that's got me wondering, even though the article where they actually announced it says that the updates will
    be available on console within a year, does anyone have an idea of when it will come out besides that?

    The name would only be taken away from you if it broke Xbox's TOS.

    Calling support will do you no good, if the Pet people deam a complaint against your name valid that you will get a FNC. Lets be clear here, a FNC is drastic negative action taken against an account for failure to abide by the TOS, getting one is not a good
    thing and to many will leave you permabanned. Just start a new account or pay to change the name.

    The name could possibly be taken by another user, or it doesnt comply with xbox TOS, could be some kinda loophole with it though
