New to Xbox

Hello everyone, I just got a Xbox 360 and was wondering what games people think I should try out. I currently have Mercenaries 2: World in Flames.

New to Xbox

If you go to settings -> power there should be an option to set the power option, if you have it to instant on you can download/install updates while the console is off (it'll do it on it's own) if you have it on energy saving it won't.

As to your gamertag, are you certain that you changed your gamertag and not your name? If so, it could just be that it hasn't kicked in yet since it does take some time to fully kick over from the previous gamertag.

 

New to Xbox

I just picked one up yesterday. It's updated and I'm just kind of exploring around the UI and seeing what is there. It is a little confusing for me having never owned an xbox before. I haven't even played a game yet, lol. Tonight, though, I plan to check out Quantum Break.

Anyway, two questions. First, is there a rest mode similar to the PS4 for when I want to download and install something? Or do I need to just keep it powered on until it is done? If so, is there an auto shut down somewhere that I would need to disable?

It shut off while updating last night and I assumed it had finished updating but, when I turned it back on it started the update process all over again. The second time it took about 15 minutes where as the first time it had already been over 2 hours and wasn't quite 60% finished.

Second, when making my account I was just auto generated a gamertag. I did change it in options like it said I could. The change was recognized because I see where it says name x has been changed to name y, however, after I made an EA account for EA access (just to see what it was all about) it says I'm signed in as x. Why isn't it the new one I made and which one do I give to my friends so they can add me to their friends list?

Does any of that make sense? Sorry if not, like I said, I'm completely new to the xbox and how things are set up and work. Thanks in advance for any answers or insights.

 

It depends on what you like to play, but I would give the Halo series and Mass Effect series a try. Those are the first two that come to mind

 

Borderlands is a must play as is mass effect series . Halo games good too. But as my friend says all down too what kind of games u like .

First & foremost, welcome to the Xbox Forums

If you like RPGs, I recommend "Dragon Age Origins". Then, if you like it, you might want to give "Dragon Age 2" a try.

Personally, I didn't like "Dragon Age 2" that much because you can only pick "Human" as a race & I lost interest (and stopped playing it completely) quickly.

With that being said, "Dragon Age 2" is by no means a horrible game (as a matter of fact, it is a great game). But, I like playing as an Elf (and Human too) so my time with this game (Dragon Age 2) was short lived.
