I just received a XBox 360 4G for Christmas. Do I need to purchase a hard drive? What is it and how does it connect to my console? I want to play GTA and Call Of Duty.

Original xbox's will no longer connect to LIVE so you will need a 360..
1) Can I attach any external USB hard-disk and increase the memory for game saves , media library and downloads ?
You can configure up to 16GB of a USB-attached device for use with the 360 as trusted, writable storage
for game saves and Marketplace content. The rest would be usable to store your own videos for playback on the 360.

If you're interested in storing a lot of content from the Marketplace, it's best to pick up a 250GB or 320GB 360 S accessory drive. It fits inside the console behind a trap door on the bottom/right of the console. It's also best to install games to that
HDD before playing.

An iPod Classic or an iPod Touch?

The iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad do not work with the 360.
Depending on how good the signal is, it's entirely possible for buffering to be taking place, especially if the router is being used with other devices.

You can get away with a USB drive but if you'll be downloading things as well as buying games you would be better of with a hard drive in the long run.

Some games require that you must have a hard drive, just make sure you buy an official microsoft one & not a 3rd party one.

Avoid places like Amazon, ebay etc. as they sell some convincing 3rd party knock offs.

More details about storage can be found here

In order to play GTA you will need atleast 8GB free space. You can get a flash drive but it might cause you some lag. However, if you get a hard drive, you can connect it eazily.

7. If you do decide to buy a hard drive, you can buy an official Xbox 360 hard drive from most game retailers and online stores like Microsoft store, amazon and ebay, just make sure you are buying an official drive otherwise you may have problems with the drive
in the future.

A 4GB hard drive will not get you very far, as you cannot download much. As far as GTA goes, if it is V then downloading the disc alone in order to play will take up a lot of your space, and won't leave you with much after that. I recommend you either get
a bigger hard drive, or some USB's if you currently can't afford one.

If it's true that MS is focusing on making the next box more TV friendly; it seems they are looking for a new consumer base perhaps females between the ages 13 & 50. Seem rather odd to me, anyways; at 500 bills if the PS4 is the same price looks like an
easy decision for people who just want have fun playing video games.

Your post makes absolutely no sense at all. So you are generalizing that only females between the ages of 13 and 50 like tv. I can not even tell you how wrong you are. Worst part of all is that you do not even post facts to back up your statement. Please
stop posting nonsense on these forums.

the majority of people are always online anyway when connected to Xbox Live ... as long as it doesn't mean you need an online connection to play then i don't see any difference between now and then. BUT ... if i have to connect to Xbox Live to even play
a game, then I won't be a happy camper. and i'm sure a lot of others won't be either.
