New to Xbox, question about gold

So new to Xbox one and got my son one for Xmas. Have two accounts (a parent and child account) setup. If I purchase a gold membership for the parent account does the child account get to use it too? Does the parent account have to be signed in for the
child account to use it? Seems like the digital content we purchased requires the parent account to remain logged in for the child account to play them, wasn't sure if this worked same way. Thanks

Free Gold

im new to xbox online and recently read they gave gold away on a weekend? couple questions



1- how often do they do that?



2- are their any advertisments about upcoming free gold dates?



3- is their a free gold weekend coming up in the near future so i know when to rent a game lol

 

on the xbox one if you set the console as your home console you can share your games and gold by setting the console as your home. to do this sign in as the parent go to settings>all settings>personalization> my home xbox. if its already your home xbox you
wont need to change anything. and you shouldn't have to be signed in to allow him to access your gold/games.

no problem. glad you were able to get your issue resolved without too much trouble. the gold sharing feature is phenomenal. before it existed my household was paying for 3 xbox live gold subscriptions and its saving me a lot of money.
