New to Xbox one and have home theater issue with sound.

hey guys so I bought my son and myself a Xbox one. I will be honest I'm more of a ps fan than Xbox But I couldn't beat the price on Black Friday. My issue is I want to hook up my home theater to Xbox but not using xbox to watch live tv. I have my tv hooked
up to my home theater direct with hdmi. My home theater receiver only has one hdmi port. I have read all sorts of forums. And everything say to do with live tv thru xbox which I don't want to do. I even went to store and bought a optical cable, did the settings
on Xbox and have no sound. Am I doing something wrong or is only way thru live Xbox tv. Which I won't be happy with. Any help suggestions would be cool. Thank uou

Vizio Sound Bar w/ Xbox One setup

Hi,

I have a couple of suggestions. First I'll post the Xbox support walkthrough for connecting the One to your home theater, there is a specific section for connecting it to a sound bar:

support.xbox.com/.../connect-console-to-home-theater

I would also suggest contacting Vizio directly, I bet they get that question a lot and they probably have suggestions to help with the issue you're experiencing.

 

rear speakers not working with Forza 5

I have an Onkyo home theater (HT-S5600) which is 7.1, the sound with fifa 14 is brilliant and I get the full surround experience with 5 speakers working just fine and commentator sound from central speakers. It works fine whether settings is DTS, 5.1 uncompressed
or 7.1 uncompressed.

My problem is with Forza 5, I can only get sound from the two front speaker and the center one, no sound from rear (or front high) what so ever. Its frustrating I didn't have this issue with Forza 4.

I tried changing settings in XBOX in sound settings but nothing worked, appreciate the help. I hooked xbox to home theater through HDMI and I have HDMI from home theater HDMI output to the TV.

 

How many HDMI's does your TV have? Does the AV reciever use ARC for the sound?

If you could post the makes and models of your TV and AV reciever I'd be happy to look into it for you.

 

Tv has 3 hdmi ports. No optical port. Receiver is Panasonic. Tv is Emerson. Black Friday. I went nuts. Lol

 

Can you give me some model numbers for the TV and AV receiver buddy.

What does your Live TV come through? some kind of set top receiver?

 

Yes my regular tv comes thru set top box

 

OK buddy. You can set each of the Home theatre, Xbox and Set top box into separate HDMI's on the TV, then I'd suggest, if you STB has an optical out, to get an optical switch and connect both the Xbox one and STB into that then that will connect to the optical
in on the HTS.

Alternately, you can get a digital coax to optical converter and connect that from the digital out on the television to the optical in on the STB.
