New to xbox , need help please

I am new to xbox....yes believe it! I wanted to find something to distract me during the lockdown with my anxiety issues. I got everything set up a couple of weeks ago on my computer with help from the friends I want to play Call of Duty with. I use the
Xbox Console Companion to stream.

Been playing the practice games and all of a sudden yesterday my screen locked midway through and I couldn't do anything, even to the point of switching the box off. Unplugged everything and left it a bit and then replugged everything back in but the "stream"
button on companion totally disappeared and all I see on the screen is this http://prntscr.com/t0tswk and then when I click turn on I get this http://prntscr.com/t0ttjn. All I could hear the box doing was possible updates by the noises the drive was making
and then the familiar noise that you hear just as it switches off, just seemed to be on a constant cycle.

Thought I would then try and get into the xbox itself via my computer to see what was going on, this is when I need to plug my hdmi cable in the back and it auto picks up and get the menus. I get the "system error E102 message on and the different troubleshoot
menus. I go to press the restart box icon via the controller but as soon as I do that the controller switches itself off and it does that on every menu that I click on so I am totally stumped in what to do now. I was going default the system but keep the
two games I had downloaded.

After messing around for a bit I think I have sussed out why the screen froze in the first place ie. I just used a low voltage 2 pin plug to plug the power cable into and I think might have unknowlingly blown the fuse therefore interruping the power supply
although the box still remained on. I have now ordered a proper 3 pin xbox power lead which should combat this happening again BUT I am still in the same predicament, I can't get into the box to do anything.

Please help someone, this is making my anxiety worse and I feel like throwing this box away and buying a new one

OK. If the troubleshooting options don't work, then try the offline approach. You will need a minimum 4GB USB stick, formatted to NTFS.

If this doesn't work, then it's hardware related (possibly HDD) and will need to be sent in for repair.

I tried to chose one from the menus, with the D button I can highlight them but as soon as I click A on the controller the controller switches itself off and takes me nowhere

if it's a hardware problem surely I can return it for a refund considering how little time I have had it and where would I send it for repair please. As I said I am new to all this and having such problems in just two weeks of owning it doesn't seem right

Hi jenniesargent,

So sorry to hear this. There are a number of things that can cause an E102 error, but lookin at your description, I would suggest that the sudden power cycle has caused the hard drive to become corrupted. A reinstall of the OS may help.

Click on the following link and select the E102 option from the list and try the troubleshooting steps in order first. A USB install may not be necessary.

I was using the correct lead that came with the console in the box ie. 2 pin but as I said how will I be able to opt for the update offline menu because every time I click on it my controller shuts off and won't allow me to gain access to any of the
chosen menus
