New to xbox. Need help! 2 little boys driving me crazy!

Hello! My sons (ages 5 and 7) saved their own money for months to buy a refurbished xbox 360 so that they could play minecraft with their friend who moved away recently. Well, we have the xbox, the minecraft, the xbox live gold membership and the headsets,
the friend showing up in their friends, but we can't join the party. They are going nuts. What am I doing wrong?

Also, can they only play with the kid one at a time or can all 3 play together? I have seen something about child accts when searching this forum. How do I hook that up?

Driving me crazy

I can't accept terms of use on my Xbox as I have a parent account we do not know this accounts password and it is not a Microsoft account so nothing is working I tried I change it and we did but when we went to log on as that account it was not a Microsoft
account so it did not log on need help! Might have to reset whole account really angry

What does the onscreen notification read when you fail to connect?

If it's along the lines of 'connection failed/lost' then your NAT or there's could be set to strick/moderate. That's a router problem, seperate from Xbox or game settings.

If the notification mentions game settings, then one or both of you need to examine your Privacy and Family settings, found in the Settings tab of your Xbox.

When we press join. It says we need an xbox live gold membership. When we click that it says we have one.

I hope by 'join the party' you meant the Minecraft world. Otherwise my post is confusing. lol

All three can play together online, but only if each player has a Gold activated profile. Your two can split-screen Minecraft together locally... but if you only have one Gold profile then that's the profile that can play online.

Child accounts are created seperately, have their own email addresses, and have a Parent Account assigned. Since you've already purchased Gold for the account you're using... you can adjust settings and restrict access to content on it - with a pass code
you create - in the aforementioned Family/Privacy Settings.

Since you new, DON'T put your credit card info in. Jr 1 and Jr 2 will find it and buy games.
