New to Xbox and cannot signup to Xbox Live.

I bought my kids a new xbox 360E for Christmas and have yet to be able to successfully sign up into xbox live. I've tried multiple times every day for the past 12 days to "sign up" and always get "Xbox live signup isn't available right now. 80154002" after
I enter my password. Is this an issue at Microsoft? Am I doing something wrong? Like I said, this is a brand new machine, it's hard wired into my modem, and all the tests come back with good connections. Everyone has been telling us how great the xbox
is for so long and I'm starting to think that this was a mistake purchase. I'm contemplating returning this thing if I can't find a solution. I'm also a bit old fashioned and would prefer talking to someone instead of posting, but I can't find a phone number
for customer support.

I keep getting the message 'Xbox live signup is currently unavailable. Please try again later.

Have follow the steps on the Xbox live trouble shooting page but still cannot recover account.

Can't Make an xbox live account?

I'm trying to make a new xbox live account but it says "Sorry, xbox live signup isn't available right now. Try again later" With the error code "8007065B" what do I do?

 

Sorry you're having so much trouble!

Let's try a few steps that will hopefully resolve your problem!

Before I begin, I just wanted to note that there's currently a service alert for Xbox Live Core Services that's affecting account management. While this should be limited to privacy settings, I'd suggest you wait and perform these steps when this page
lists Xbox Live Core Services as "Up and running" again, just to be super safe!



Let's start by clearing your console's cache:

1. On your 360's dashboard (home screen), scroll over to the "Settings" section and select "System"
   
2. Choose "Storage" and highlight a storage device (such as the hard drive)
3. Press the "Y" button
4. Select "Clear System Cache"
5. Confirm "Yes" in the popup window.
6. Repeat this 2 more times

Restart your console after clearing your cache 3 times and try creating an account again.

If you're still having trouble, try downloading the profile you're posting with here to your console.

If you're able to download the profile successfully but you aren't able to create any accounts on the console, I'd suggest creating accounts for your kids on the Xbox.com site just like you did for the profile posting here, and then downloading them to the
console the same way. The gamertags will be randomly-generated, but each profile should get one free change within 30 days of their creation. You can find out more about that
