    There should be a tutorial option when you try to make a new game, you can start there on how to play.

    Also these forums are a good place to start when looking for more information new to online minecraft :)

    OR you could also go to the Minecraft Wiki, Just Google 'Minecraft Wiki'

    Two things you should note, There's a PC Version and an Xbox 360 version of Minecraft,

    Both are pretty different from each-other because the PC version contains alot more updates.
