New to driving sims - Need some advice

Hey everyone, I'm new to driving sims, and the xbox community in general, i just got my xboxone and forza 5 today, I can pretty much control the car completely except when abs is off, I really want to learn how to control the car when abs is off.

If anyone could shed some light on how abs works in general, and general tips and advice on how to drive with it off, that'd be greatly appreciated, also if you'd like to add me as a friend, that would be really awesome of you too! New to driving sims - Need some advice :)

    :)

"Better with Kinect.." - MS' new catchphrase ?

Neither angry or offended. Just don't understand why a 'sim' driving game needs a inaccurate, laggy device to make 'it better'. Plus, it can't offer pedals (acceleration/brake).

    Awesome.

Braking has 3 settings: Assisted, ABS On and ABS Off.

With the Assisted brake setting the game will automatically apply the brakes if you're approaching a turn to quickly. Unfortunately, the game isn't perfect in it's application of this setting and you often find that braking is applied in wierd spots at wierd
times. This is the slowest setting.

With ABS On the game will automatically adjust the brake pressure being applied in an attempt to stop the wheels from locking up. The game might not always pick the optimal change in pressure to prevent lockup and this can slow the car down more than neccessary.
Some players who do not have good control on the triggers might find this setting faster than ABS Off.

With ABS Off the driver is in complete control of brake pressure. Most would consider this the fastest setting. Many players would also recommend going into Forza Profile->Controller->Advanced Options and setting the Deceleration Deadzones to 0 on the inside
and 100 on the outside. This gives you the greatest range of sensitivity with the controller trigger (or foot pedal) to control exactly how much brake pressure is being applied.

With ABS Off you can't just pull the brake trigger all the way in. You have to be concious of the amount of pressure you're applying and be aware of when the wheels will lock up. With enough experience in each car you'll learn how much braking you can apply
before the wheels lock up in any given situation. Once you've learned the limits and can apply them consistently you'll notice your lap times improving. It's easy to shave seconds off your times once you're able to apply the perfect amount of brake pressure
as late as possible (keeping your speed up for as long as possible).

  5. Here's a nice little tip. First, always buy the race break upgrade. It's nice to be able to stop more quickly, hardly increases your PI and will afford you some passing opportunities. Also, with the racing breaks you can adjust the brake pressure. You can
reduce the brake pressure to whatever you like which is the simple, "Cliff's Notes" solution. I set mine to 90% usually. Reducing the brake pressure will allow you to get a feel for using the brakes with no ABS without constantly locking them up. Also, as
you brake, braking as much as possible without locking the wheels up, you can begin to gently increase the amount of pressure on the brakes to help stop you more quickly.
