  1. New swearing policy?

I was playing NHL 19 last night, and one of my teammates was being (Mod Removed - Profanity). He kept going offside on purpose whenever someone other than him had the puck, called for a pass every time our goalie got the puck (resulting
in 3 goals against our team), spamming the call for pass button no matter where he was, etc. Basically ruining the game for everyone. Then, as we were about to lose 5-1, he QUITS with 0.2 seconds left, costing me XP. So I did what pretty much anyone would
feel justified in doing, and sent him a message that simply said (Mod Removed - Profanity) And I got a 24 hour communication ban.

I mean.... first of all, simply dropping (Mod Removed - Profanity)
is a bannable offense? Every other game I play is filled with that, and much worse. I didn't we suddenly had to abide by some Victorian code of ethics. It's complete Puritanical nonsense. Second, where is the ban for the troll who completely ruined a game for
others? I reported him for unsporting conduct and quitting early... but I get a ban for using a naughty word. Nice. Is this just because he reported it, or is any swearing in a message automatically flagged? Can I swear in messages to my friends? I've been
an xbox live member for 10 years and have never received any sort of enforcement action, but now fully grown adults aren't allowed to use certain words because they... make others sad? What? Don't get me wrong, I'm not down with slurs or other harassment,
and would never use language like that, but simply one (Mod Removed - Profanity) to someone who clearly deserves it is just normal, adult behavior. There's nothing I can do about it, but I just want to voice my opinion that this new policy
    is absolutely ridiculous.

    :)

  2. Swearing Ban ?

If someone searches for a topic that ends up being old, they're scolded, but if they create a repeat thread, they're scolded anyways... Get over it. This is a decent topic revisit and to discuss anyways.

When it comes to swearing, I'm okay with it online provided it's not directed at another player or racist. For example, if you get upset with losing a match and curse as a result, I'm okay with that as long as you don't get carried away (after all, a negative
attitude is unfortunately infectious and can and will affect how you play - it's why many players will try to trash talk you, which I'm not okay with).

It's nothing new actually. Profanity has always been a violation of the code of conduct.

If you define "behaving poorly" as using a harmless word, but not trolling in-game and quitting early, then ok.

None of the Mod Removed - Profanity None parts of my OP had profanity in them, for the record. I can't even use a letter with the word "bomb" after it now.

If I'm sending a message to a friend of mine and swear, will that be a ban, or does it have to be reported? I've been called all kinds of names that are far worse than what I said, actual slurs that I've reported, and nothing happens.

It's less likely to be seen by the enforcement team if it's not reported, but could still warrant a suspension if they see it or you get reported for something else and they see it.

There is no way to know 100% when another person gets an enforcement action, but the enforcement team does investigate every complaint they receive. So any of the complaints you've filed would have had action taken against them as long as it did violate
    the code of conduct.

  11. I can sympathize with your frustration as this griefer costed you your time and XP as well as feeling like they may have gotten away with their acts. The reason they did is because the course of action that should have been taken was you reporting them
and leaving it at that. Will this always work and will they always get taught a lesson? Probably not, but it’s better than getting suspended yourself.
