New Sounds Since the April 2018 Update

These updates continue to infuriate me. Since the April update the menus make new sounds when I'm navigating through them. Why? How was this change supposed to "improve" my using my console?

With the last dashboard update the hype was that everything was made "easier", less button presses to get to what you want to do which was bull, it was less button presses to broadcast your gaming but more button presses to do regular tasks.

I checked in the settings and everywhere else I could think of, but can't find where to turn these new annoying sounds off.

HOW THE HELL DO I TURN THE NEW SOUNDS OFF?

I'm done with Microsoft/ Xbox when the Xbone 1's lifespan is over, Microsoft didn't learn anything from Don Mattrick's condescendingly superior attitude and conduct at the Xbone's launch and between the annoying things within virtually every Xbone update
since I bought one in November of 2016 and Microsoft's deplorable conduct with Windows 10 all the way through with it, I'm just so done with Microsoft and it's bull. I bought an Xbone to keep my Xbox Live friends, but this bull isn't worth the frustration.
    I'm just done.

    :)

A slight change in the sound of the menus selection noise that lasts a millisecond is enought to make you quit?

  5. I'm with this guy. it reminds me of the old 360 sounds an it is really annoying. I have turtle beach stealth 600's an they literally sound like trash on the home screen. not only that they completely removed the option to turn off these UI sounds.. this
turns me far away from xbox. how can I think when it sounds like someone is playing mobile games in my ears when I'm trying to navigate my menus. THE WORST UPDATE EVER! even preview players complained about it an you still put it in the spring update.. like
how can a month or 2 of complaints not get through?

  6. I can understand his feelings. The new sounds don't make browsing the dashboard a pleasant experience. Now I know the big rebuttal ia "well I don't spend time on the dashboard, why don't you use the console for gaming" but some people do use the dashboard
to browse for games, music, and videos...surely those acts should be as pleasant as possible. If they aren't then Microsoft are actively putting people off buying new content.

Waaambulance for MRF520, reapeate there is a Waambulance for a Mr MRF520.

That's what you have to complain about, new sounds?

seriously dude, get out into the real world sometime and look around you, there are far more important things to complain about that a few beeps from a console.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but surly the most important part of a gaming console, is how it plays games. I don't buy a console because it has a great dashboard. I spend about 5% of my time on the dashboard and the rest of the time playing games.

I'm still not buying it. I hear what you are saying and I would agree if it was a PC and you were on it all day everyday, but really, how long are people going to spend navigating on their dashboard? And if they did do it for say two hours or more, do you
really think they would need to do that again the next day and the day after that etc etc? Surely a few beeps can't really bother someone that much.

  9. Called it.

Why would it need to be 2 hours? Surely five or ten minutes of annoying sounds while browsing for content is long enough for them to be annoying and off putting?

Browsing should be a pleasurable experience. That's why real world stores have air conditioning and heating, why they play gentle easy listening music. They want their customers to be as happy and as comfortable as possible. Just speaking for myself I can't
say Microsoft are doing that at the moment.

And the PC isn't a proper comparison, as even on Windows 10 you can customise what sounds play to your liking.

    Stop playing dashboard then lol.

I spend 99% of my console time in a game or youtube/netflix, and only 1% on the dash.

Plus im LOVING the new dash sounds. It sounds mmmmmm and it confirms that the OS has recieved your commands.

Then they should make different sound options to choose from if people cannot handle a certain beep. If it's that off putting that it's ruining their entire gaming experience and they are looking for a quite room to hide in, then
making different sound options would probably be best.

    Why?

I mean seriously, why should they?

As I and others have said, nobody buys a console to play the mighty dashboard game, we buy consoles to play games. The sound effects on the dashboard are played a few times a day, the rest of the time its huge explosions, waves crashing on the hull of a
ship (guess what game I'm currently playing).

Why spend perhaps another month or so finding more sound effects, coding a menu system to choose which ones you want. Plus once they put something in there, people will be shouting from the rooftops "I want more sound effects"

Microsoft will never win, and they will be spending valuable time creating sound effects that could be used on more important things like, oh I don't know helping Rare fix bugs in Sea of Thieves.

It is the shopping experience that is being ruined. As we move more toward a digital future the store on the console is going to be a resource that more and more people are going to be interacting with. It benefits Microsoft for that shopping experience
to be as pleasant as possible.

Now if people find buying from the console directly to be annoying then they are going to be going to third party code selling sites. This means less money in Microsoft's pocket. Then of course people are more open to fraud by potentially buying stolen keys
that could be revoked, meaning they lose product and cash.

So annoying sounds might be a small fraction of the gaming experience but having nice ones benefit everyone.
