New Rep System...

Lofty, you keep repeating the same question. "How can a system tell between false and true reports?", how is this such a difficult question?

Do you know what a Boolean is? In computer terms it is a statement that is either true or false, it must be only one of those two and cannot be both. It must be true or false. All Bools by default are False, they only become True
when a condition is met.

This would be one simple version of "how it tells". If I do things that meet the condition making it True by its very nature, it is no longer False. Why is this such a difficult concept for people to understand?

 

Each to there own idea's lofty because again that's all it is, I can not fault the system because it's not failed me so, I can not really say it is broken or might not be working as intended because for me it's been working fine ?

but only based from my own experience, which I have had 100% no issues with my Rep ?

so I based on my own experience it's working fine.

now those who claim there are issues because they have bad Rep to prove it's broken .. And the only evidence that's been give is "Why is my Rep gone red I done nothing wrong" by people with red Rep.

I can not claim or say they have bad rep because the system is broken just because people with bad Rep say so.

so can only go by my own experience and my own behaviour, which in turn leads to my idea and there idea of good behaviour.

The only people who can say if it's working as intended is Microsoft, these threads just fuel the doubt which in turn leads to rumours.

Don't get me wrong if my Rep did go from green to red for nothing i will be right back here saying "why has my Rep gone red? i have done nothing wrong?"

Or is this a Case of "The emperor's new clothes" ?

I keep asking in the hope someone else has an opinion on how the system works or doesn't? So whether it remains true until proven false or vice versa doesn't really say anything to me.

So does anyone have an opinion?

Someone gives out 10 false complaints of Abusive Talk just because their a sore loser lets say ..

Another person in the same time meets 10 people who were abusive so also reports 10 people this time the reports are genuine.

How does the system ( or what are people's opinion on it ) tell? It doesn't need to be proved or not to me. I'm genuinely interested to know peoples thoughts.

If you say got red Rep this will effect a service you pay for correct ?

now if part of this service your paying for is unfairly effecting the very service your paying for then lets not forget one major thing here lofty why has no one took a law suit out against Microsoft ? that seems the done thing in the US and how they settle
things.

i cant help but think if it was the case someone by now in the USA would of sued Microsoft ages ago ?

 

Because its in the terms and conditions that you sign up for that MS can take action they deem appropriate. And these people haven't been banned or stopped from using the service, and can according to MS repair reputation over time.

Not to mention legal actions in both countries are not cheap and how many of the gears or halo playing yoof would resort to legal action over the cost of a £30 sub. Lets be realistic here.

And i am being realistic, there are people who will take a claim out because they know if they are correct and have proof, then company just pays out because its such a little amount of money and cheaper than going through courts, all done and dusted for
them as far as they are concerned.

 

Lofty, what exactly are you asking? It sounds like you are making it much more difficult in your head.

If someone, anyone files 1 or 1,000 false reports it hurts no one but that persons Rep. If one, just one person files a true report the person who the complaint was about has their Rep go down. Further, the person who filed the
true report has their Rep go up.

I don't see why you keep counting more reports from more people? None of that matters. The report is either True or False, there is no middle ground that it seems you are trying to imply.

 

Yes try getting any legal body to take on MS one of the biggest corporations on the planet over something that is covered in their terms and conditions of use. Good luck with that.

Genchy, that is not a "claim". That is simple logic. If you are trying to make a claim it is "broken", you need to demonstrate that claim.

 

I don't need to demonstrate anything. You cannot prove your claim and neither can anyone else. You dismiss people for believing the system is flawed as in your eyes they need to prove the system is flawed to you. But you cannot prove the system isn't
flawed to them therefore your point is just as invalid using your own logic.

 

No Genchy, I am stating a Logical Absolute. Good Behavior is equal to Good Behavior. You are making a Claim. Good Behavior can be equal to Bad Behavior. You have the Burden of Proof. Everyone else went over this 3 pages ago.

How am I claiming there to be middle ground? I'm totally lost by that.

Reading above, I'm not trying to claim anything, I'm not trying to prove something one way or another ( no-one here can ) I could be right, I could be wrong, it's just my opinion and that is I don't think the Rep system is 100% perfect and could be open
to abuse.

What I asked for though is if anyone had an opinion on what I posted above ( and for the record my opinion is that the system can't tell unless someone from Microsoft was in-game and witnessed events themselves ) but once more and this is just an example

You play Forza 6 for 1 week. In that time you meet 10 players of verbally abuse you so you report them for Abusive Language ..

I play Forza 6 for 1 week and report 10 players for Abusive Language for no other reason that I threw my rattle out of the pram because they beat me fair and square.

So you have 10 Genuine complaints, 10 false ones. What are people's 'opinions' on how the system tells the lies from the truth?

Once more, it might work, my own opinion could be wrong so I'm not claiming anything or trying to prove it one way or another. Just really interested to know others opinions on this? Not bothered whether they think it needs to be proved or not.

 

Ever thought these threads are just started for the sake of getting a response ?
