New Rep System

Give MS some credit for at least attempting to fix something they see as broken. There will always be people who try to manipulate a system like this so let's see if the new one works as intended before writing it off.

I like the idea of a decent rep system but I don't think it should be visible on peoples Gamercards/Profiles, if anything keep it all in the background. Anyone who has any experience with the multiplayer on the major game franchises (CoD, GOW, BF, Halo)
knows this is going to be a nightmare. I get a fair amount of attention from my Gamertag and I know people bad-rep me for that alone.

Absolutes are not required or even reasonable for a given value judgement. On a scale of 1 to 10, I can determine it "works" would be around 8 or 9. This is simply far more reasonable then giving equal weight at it being "broken"
with a 1 or 2 at most out of 10.

If you or anyone waits for 100% information before taking action or doing anything, you cannot by logic alone ever do anything. This alone is a highly unreasonable method to determine anything.

 

Honestly, I'm sick of hearing about this and it's been the same since the 360, poorly monitored and too many choices. Allot of people complaining are actually good at the games they play, why do so many think people are lying? Just accept it, I mean I haven't
played a souls game or a COD on the Xb platform for ages and now I'm a good gamer. The perfect little world we're trying to create is more trouble then it's worth.

 

I have to agree with LK, SilverTash - NOTHING works that well. It's simply enough to know that it does work, and as far as I'm concerned, it not only works, but it works well... Most people, when referring to how bad they think it is, are usually exaggerating
- oftentimes to try and reverse their current reputable situation (which never works, BTW).

 

On a side note...LostKaus is still in the green. He appears to be good in Battlefield 4 by his videos, so the "I'm getting reported because I'm too good!" argument is starting to leak water.

 

Question,

If you block someone should it automatically stop you from ever being put in a game with them again or is it just a case of it the system does it best for you not to be put in the same game.

Maybe each game is different?

I believe there is more to the story with the individuals that cry wolf about the reputation system being broken.

Being to good isn't why there reputation is going down.

It is going down due to the behaviour of said individual. You see it a lot with some (not all) of the competitive players that play Halo.

Some are foul mouthed and unsportsmanlike to the competition. Some (not all) use network manipulation if they on the losing side.

So people report them based on that behaviour. The PET team finds the evidence supporting the report and the rep goes down.

DB Draad, you are asking about two different things.

Unsportsmanslike would be examples of Team Killing or driving the wrong way in a racing Game.

Network manipulation would be a method of attempting to alter the traffic of a network or Players in a given Match using external means that result in a disruption of Service or unfair advantage to other Players.

 

I know it's two different things, hence the full stop in between, but I agree that I was a bit too economical with words there.

On the Unsportsmanlike, I think the rep should be game specific and the game should compensate for these kind of things. Rep should not be affected, and as I said, it is subjective and without clear guidelines.

As for the network manipulation? Any fool trying something like that should actually be prosecuted if they fiddle with networks, services, etc. It should be something way different than rep.

 

I'm with LostKauz until the system has been announced by Microsoft will I accept the system is not working ...

why would i think like that ?

simply because there must be ten's of thousands of people who have been banned or REP gone red over the years all for the correct reason's

now it only takes a little campaign from a group of people who have broken rules to start trying to put doubt in peoples minds

if they do this long enough, other people who have broken the rules will jump aboard saying it's broken to.

thus helping to reinforce any people who might start thinking maybe it is broken.

keep the rumours/doubt going long enough and it will be claimed as fact ..

to me it's only a fact when Microsoft say's so.

trying to say prove this, prove that, and claim facts with only the knowledge gained from hear say that's doing the rounds in forum's does not make fact's ...

i have had no issue's along with probs most of the xbox live user's ..

if it was as bad as these people try to make it out then there would be more people with red REP than green REP ..

have fun saying who's right and who's wrong because that's all that's happening lol

Trouble is here mate. Just for example 'If' there was a problem with the Rep system would Microsoft actually come out and admit it?

Ok they might come out and say ... "Folks we've updated the system" ... But if it was updated because there were real issues I don't think they would give us the whole truth, I could be wrong but I just can't see it.

I've said it before. I don't think the system is 100% broken, not at all but I can't honestly see how it can work 100% right all of the time. I don't think any system can so I do believe it is flawed, even if only little.

Besides all the posts we have seen over the last 2 months or so which more and more people are asking if there is a problem between the Rep system and Halo and Gears ( where most report they have been playing and had issues ) but my question ( well one of
a few ) is ....

Say over a period of 3 months. I play various games online and I'm a real bad loser. So I report 10 people say for Abusive Language just because I'm mad because I was beat.

But it's quite possible for another gamer to play online over 3 months and meet 10 people that were abusive online so they quite rightly report these gamers.

How can the system tell the difference between the false and genuine reports?

It's probably a question that won't be answered, maybe the system can tell and I'm totally wrong. The wife told me this morning I was wrong about something, I'm sure I wasn't but not going to argue with her lol
