New PC and WD Elements external hard drive.

I bought a new PC. I brought over my WD Elements External Drive. I can see the drive and the files but cannot play any of the games. Also, none of the Xbox games for PC are showing up on the new computer either.

if your on about gamepass games then you need to fully reinstall from scratch all the games, microsoft encrypt the folder to the one computer they are downloaded from and so cannot be moved from pc to pc.

Have you tested if that WD External drive works properly on a PC? Is that a WD My Book or a WD Elements Desktop drive?

I would consider testing the drive's health with
WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic and see if the device is operating properly.

Are you using the same power outlet to power both the console and the External Drive? I would try using different power outlets.

Hi All

The external hard drive i use is the 2TB WD Elements. I only use it for storing games everything else gets stored on the console itself.

Interesting. I have the game and all it's DLC installed on an external hard drive with no issues. The only difference I can see is that you're using an SSD hard drive where I use a plain old WD Elements.

I'm wondering if it's something to do with the nature of how SSD drives store data compared to none SSD drives.

Do you have the external drive set as the default location for all downloads/installs in the storage settings on the Xbox ?
