New Parental Controls Screen Time and Content Settings

The new parental controls that have been set up for Screen Time and Content Settings are not user friendly. Here are some suggestions that could help make this more parent/child friendly.

On the mobile app in Family Settings you currently see content restrictions with age limit. There is a drop down for view all ratings. In addition to the View Allowed Ratings, there should be a drop down with View Installed Content. When the drop down appears
the parent would then have individual slide bars to allow/deny next to each installed game/app on the device. This prevents the parent from constant entry of password to allow a child to switch from game to game or app that is outside their "content guidelines"
    per their age.

When the child wants access to an app/game that has a higher rated content than allowed, Xbox could send a text message to the phone number listed on the parent account to approve or deny. Not trying to be lazy, but nobody wants to run up and down stairs
every time their child's mind changes about what they want to do. New Parental Controls Screen Time and Content Settings :) Xbox can send a text to verify the account so why not a text to allow the permission of said game/app? This should be a simple add on.

Finally, with all these restrictions in place, Xbox should bring back family live accounts. If we as parents are controlling every aspect of gaming, why are we not allowed to share Live/Ultimate between up to 4 devices as in the past? This seems far more
essential in these times... Plus I would buy more consoles! New Parental Controls Screen Time and Content Settings ;)

    :)

These are great ideas, but please, the best place to get them to people that can do something to implement them would be following the
    Xbox Feedback process here.

Seriously, post it there and let me know, I'll support it! Going from zero Microsoft Accounts to a kid that can play Minecraft with friends is very complicated.

How do I stop my child from sending private messages when in private party's? I noticed awhile ago they where using this to hide msg from my wife n me.

Hi, R0bdawG 5 my name is Jose, and I would be happy to help.

To activate parental controls on Xbox, follow these steps:

On the Xbox console, press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Online security & family.

    Select Parental Controls.

    Select Activate.

    Create a parental control password.

    Next Select.

Select the parental control options you want to apply.

    Select Save.

Here is a description of the parental control options you can set:

Content Restrictions: These options allow you to restrict the content your child can view and play. You can restrict content based on age, gender, and content type.

Screen Time: These options allow you to restrict the amount of time your child can play. You can set daily or weekly time limits.

And the one you want is this:

Communication Settings: These options allow you to restrict the ways your child can communicate with other online players. You can disable private messages, voice chat, and group creation.

On the Communication Settings screen, you can configure the following options:

Private messages: Select Allow to allow your child to send and receive private messages, or select Don't allow to disable them.

Voice chat: Select Allow to allow your child to use voice chat, or select Don't allow to disable it.

Creating groups: Select Allow to allow your child to create groups or join groups created by other players, or select Don't allow to disable it.

Once you've set up Parental Controls, you can access it at any time in Settings > General > Online Safety & Family > Parental Controls.

I hope this information is helpful and you can activate parental controls on the Xbox.

    downloading M content

    Meisun is not correct.

    .

Child accounts cannot download M or RP content that is free as that is considered advertising. However, child accounts CAN purchase M and RP content if your parental settings allow it. The parental account attached to your child account can manage these
    settings.

How do I remove 'skip sign in' option on Xbox Series X?

Family Settings: Xbox provides robust family settings that allow you to manage and customize access for different family members. This includes controlling screen time limits, content restrictions, and privacy settings. To set up and manage Family Settings:

    a. Sign in to your Xbox Series X with the parent or guardian account.

    b. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.

    c. Navigate to the extreme right of the guide and select the "Profile & system" tab.

    d. Choose "Settings" and then select "Account."

    e. Under Account settings, select "Family settings."

    f. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up and manage family settings for individual accounts.

Screen Time Limits: You can set daily or weekly screen time limits for each account to manage and control the amount of time spent on the Xbox Series X. This helps in regulating usage and ensuring a healthy balance. You can customize these limits based on specific days of the week as well.

Content Restrictions: Xbox allows you to apply age-appropriate content restrictions based on the rating of games, movies, and apps. This ensures that users can only access content that aligns with their age group. You can set restrictions for individual accounts or apply them globally for all accounts in the family.

Privacy and Online Safety: You can manage privacy settings and online safety features to control communication, multiplayer interactions, and sharing of personal information. Xbox provides various options to customize privacy levels and ensure a safe online experience.
