New Minecraft Version download.

Hello, I own minecraft Xbox One Edition on disc and would like to upgrade it to the new version, am I still allowed to do this? Whenever I click the box saying to download it, it just takes me to the store page for it and no download or anything like that.

The free upgrade for disc owners ended in 2018. If you purchased and played the game prior to January 31, 2018 you would have received a free upgrade. Since that promotion is over, you would need to purchase the new version in order to upgrade.

Hi Cat,

Yes you would need a total of 4 hours of game play I think. As the FAQ states within the time periods, not sure if them are over or still going on. Unable to find anything on that. Try playing for 5-6 hours and make a DLC purchase as skins or texture pack.
Then the code gets sent 14-21 days later.

Q: How long will the Better Together Update be available as a free download to players who own the console version of the game?

A: Owners of the disc version of Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will have until January 30th 2018 to have played Minecraft for five or more hours in the past 12 months OR purchased a DLC Pack. There is no cutoff
for digital Minecraft: Xbox One Edition owners.
