New Microsoft account old Xbox Live account

Well, there's no merging, per se.



However, you want the old Microsoft Account (formerly known as the Windows Live ID) on the new gamertag, right?



Then, on the OLD account, change the Microsoft account by going to
http://account.live.com where you sign in w/ the OLD Windows Live ID then go to
account.live.com/ChangeID.aspx and change the OLD Microsoft account (Windows Live ID) to an email address you create on the spot at HOTMAIL or LIVE.



30 days later, you can reuse that email address on the NEW account so the NEW account gets changed to the old Windows Live ID. That 30-day 'speed bump' BTW is required by the security folks at Microsoft Accounts and is not the idea of Xbox, FYI.

Each 360 account can be associated with a Live account.

Currently I have:

old 360 account -> associated with my Live account but with the old gamertag

new 360 account -> associated with my Live account but with the new gamertag

The new account got created when I downloaded my profile using my microsoft sign in. The old account was associated with the same microsoft sign in but it didn't recognize my gamertag change. Now it won't let me sign in to live because it asks for my microsoft
sign in details. I'm guessing the sign in fails because it's trying to find the microsoft account associated with the old gamertag.

I either need to somehow transfer my saves over to the new 360 account so I can upload them to the cloud, or I need someway for my Xbox to realize that my gamertag changed on the old account so I can sign into live again with that account.

When I created my Microsoft account it didn't link to my Xbox Live account and it created a new one. How can I get rid of this new xbox account and link my old one?

The Microsoft account is also an Xbox account.

If you want to create a new Xbox account, it's only possible to create a new Microsoft account.

Whenever you use a Microsoft Account (email) on a windows 8 machine, it will auto create a xbox live account for it, because it is using the same 'network' called Xbox Live

So it is normal that there is already an account created for that Microsoft Account (email)

The question now is, what exactly do you want to do?

Do you want to connect your old xbox live account to that new Microsoft Account, or use your old xbox live account with the old email address on your windows 8 laptop?

If you want to switch your xbox live account to your new Microsoft Account, you will first need to remove that new auto generated xbox live account. This can only be done on the console, and only when a profile has been on a console 30 days without being
