    New Internal Hard Drives Giving Same Error Codes as Original


    Recently my console's hard drive failed, when I booted it up it would give me anything from an E101 error to an E106.

    I used a test drive that I had to determine if the problem was the HDD or something else, and my test drive worked fine.

    I bought a new drive and installed it only to find that the error codes were back, despite the new drive.

    I tried three of my other test drives and they had the same problem. I know all of these drives are working, but for some reason only the first test drive works in the Xbox.

    The console is an Xbox One X model 1787

    The original drive was a Seagate Barracuda 1tb, the working test drive is an HGST 500gb, and the non-working drives were 1 HGST 500gb (same model as the working one), 2 Toshiba 1tb drives, and 1 new Seagate Barracuda 1tb.

    all of these drives work perfectly fine on two of my PCs.

    Any idea why only the HGST test drive works?

    Any idea why the new Seagate drive doesn't?

    I FOUND A SOLUTION! If you are trying to download ark onto an external hard drive move it to the internal hard drive and it should work. I had the same problem and error code man. If you are trying to download it onto the internal drive then try doing it on an external drive. I'm sorry if you don't have one.

    there were no consoles originally shipped with BOTH 4 GB internal storage and 250/320 GB removable hard drive. they include only one or the other when purchasing brand new. however you can purchase a hard drive and add it to a console with 4 GB internal.
    if the console has 4 GB internal then it did not ship with a hard drive.
