New home theater and confusing setup

Just purchased new Onkyo S7800 Atmos/enabled system. Had old system hooked up directly as suggested via setup with HT, but want to set up as suggested by Onkyo. What kind of issues will I have and how can I assure my new system will be able to utilize all
capabilities hooked up the way the Xbox tutorial shows?

Hooking it up the 'Onkyo' way is hooking up Xbox to input for game input on rear of unit.

A bit confused...don't want to set it up and tear it down again.

    Thanks

    Michael Ward

Complex Home Theater Setup -- Ideas?

I've got my XBOX ONE hooked up quite nicely to my AV receiver (SONY), and thence to my TV (PHILIPS). The voice ON/OFF commands work great.

I'd like to have the least-effort-to-manage solution for including:

    • XBOX 360 (I still need to finish Skyrim.. it's been a long year or two at the office)
    • XBOX (1st Gen.. Gauntlet: Dark Legacy and the like never were compatted)
    • Win 8.1 PC (sometimes I have need of it on the big screen, sometimes I just wanna play Warcraft in the living room, and it happens to have the big disc changer)
    • WIndows Server share (not all of my music is available via XBOX Music, let alone the videos)
With the goal of maintaining full sound, what's the best approach for the first three items (the fourth could, if needed, be piped through the PC)? It'd be great to maintain the XBOX ONE's control of the AV and TV, but as far as managing AV input switching,
do we have any XBOX-based solution for that, or is it:

    • XBOX On
    • Use remote to manually change input on the AV

you will find using the remote to change to different devices easier.

all i use 2 remotes as my receiver can change my tv and use my foxtel to change channels on that.

I assume you are using an Xbox One console. The most basic connection setup with your Onkyo receiver would just be:

Xbox One --> HDMI --> Onkyo Receiver -->
    HDMI --> TV

The labels over the HDMI-inputs on your receiver are merely "suggestions", possibly to help you stay organized with the cabling. However, you will likely want to connect your Xbox One to HDMI inputs 1-3, as they have HDCP 2.2. This will especially prevent
errors when watching content in 4K (if you have the Xbox One S).

How would i connect my Creative A550 to my xbox 1 S. The speakers use a 5.1 analog jack.

    Hey there -

The Xbox One does not take that kind of input however it does have an optical port. You'll want to look at the

    home theater setup guide
    for further assistance.

Good luck and let us know if you have any additional questions!

    Hey there -

Sorry to hear about the issue. How do you currently have your sound bar and console connected to your TV? Take a peek at the
