New hdd for slim won't format.

Just got it in the mail 320g hdd for slim... Keep getting a can't perform action error shortly after entering my serial number. I've tried cleaning and it is a ms hdd.

Xbox froze during download..

now wants me to format my hard drive. I just transferred data from my old HDD to my new slim 360. Everything transferred just fine, but it froze during a download, and won't recognize the hard drive.

Cant connect on xboxlive with new console

I know from some previous issues with a new Xbox 360 Slim 4GB that the users had to first format the HDD to sort it out. I assume you have nothing stored on this HDD. If so, try format the HDD.

Sorry to hear you are having this issue unfortunately if it is a defective HDD the best thing you can do is contact the sellers.. in this case if you bought it from the Microsoft store you can call them back and either exchange it for a new one or get a
refund.

There is really no fix for a defective HDD and the only thing that it could do is damage your console so its best if you just replace it.

so it looks like im gonna have to cough up £75 for the slim hdd lol

he is only a casual gamer so its no rush it was just an idea my friend mentioned to me

made sense old xbox 360 hdd into new xbox slim its and official xbox hdd so my friend and i though no probs lol

he said re-format the 60gb and input the 4gb slims serial to tie the hdd to it and it will be good

Well it would seem that the hdd is permanently stuffed as i have just tried to format it.

the format was performed with no errors but the console still says that the hdd is unformatted, i'm going to take it to the game store tomorrow to see if the drive is recognized in one of their xbox's as i have no friends who have the new slim console for
me to test it on, if it is recognized by their console then i know that there must be a problem with my consoles hdd ports.

Could be HDD as nyteflier said. I would try formatting the HDD before buying a new one. But first
MOVE ALL SAVES to an external device, as formatting DELETES EVERYTHING.

If you play original xbox games on your 360, just be aware that formatting will delete the emulator, so you won't be able to play those anymore.

You won't get better graphics installing games to the HDD, but the load-times are a bit faster, and there is less wear on the DVD drive for sure.

The biggest reason to go with the bigger HDD is to have room to grow. Having a new Slim will also afford you the opportunity to get the new 320GB HDD. That's what I'm waiting for! :O)
