    Greetings everyone, I have been an insider for almost a year now, enrolled my Xbox One S into the program. Tragically a month ago my internal HDD crashed completely, in all fairness I should have seen it coming since it would make clicking noises from time to time. I had a preview build installed during the crash so I couldn't utilize the available OSU at the time, yesterday an updated OSU was made public and I downloaded it. I bought a fresh HDD and a USB stick for the update procedure, I used a powershell formating script to prepare the hard drive, set up the system update folder on the USB stick, and proceeded to carry out the fresh install. The offline update crashes during the Verifying stage everytime, I'm out of wits and do not know what to do next, my Xbox isn't on warranty and even so, I live in a remote part of Africa I've been a big fan of Xbox and I bought this one during a time when I had experienced a great loss in my family, it's helped me through dark times and would really appreciate if I could get it back up and running. Thank you in advance

    OSU1 may update needed

    hello if I understood correctly even if it is an xbox which receives the insider updates, once an OSU is more recent than the insider update it is possible to carry out an offline update? my hard drive has just failed and I am in this situation, no way to update offline knowing that I have the very latest version of the insider update. thank you for answering it.

    Another way to do so is with an Offline System Update, the OSU allows us to update the Xbox console with the latest, most stable version of the Xbox Operating System. Here's how to do so:

    If you are in an Insider preview you can't use offline system update (OSU).

    Keep in mind that you must unenroll the console from Insider preview before attempting an offline system update (OSU).

    I haven't seen any reference that OSU's can be attempted by Insiders, but I will check again.

    Besides, after you successfully install an OSU, it will check online for the latest General Availability XBOX OS and update if required. You can't roll back a system update to a older version of the OS.

    No, they are not updated. That’s the point. We have the 7196 version and that OSU files are for the 7194. That means that when we try to do the offline upgrade process, it fails because our Xbox is in a higher version than the one that we are trying to
    install.

    The same process but with the updated OSU files should solve our problems.
